Dining at Wine Connection on Sukhumvit Soi 11, overall, the ambiance and sitting area create an inviting atmosphere for guests. One of the highlights of Wine Connection is its extensive wine selection, ranging from the new to the old world. With prices starting around 550 Baht and up, there were various options to suit different preferences and budgets. Additionally, the portions were well-proportioned and reasonably priced, making it a fantastic choice for those looking for a satisfying meal. The service at this Wine Connection deserves special mention as it was excellent. Another unique feature of this restaurant is the opportunity to buy retail wine. It's always great to have the option to take home a bottle of your favorite wine from a memorable dining experience. It tends to be generally crowded, particularly on weekends. The biggest issue I had was the restroom situation. The restrooms are located quite far inside the Sky-wing lobby of the Ambassador Hotel, which can be inconvenient, especially when enjoying a few drinks. It would be more convenient if there were a few bathrooms located within the restaurant area itself. Another minor drawback was that the wine was served at room temperature, which, considering the Thai weather, made it difficult to fully appreciate and enjoy the cold cuts, which are my favorite. But it was getting hard for me to order any further food. But they neatly packed my wine bottle. Furthermore, the location is a major plus point, within walking distance from the BTS Nana Skytrain station and near the Ambassador Hotel. This makes it easily accessible to both locals and tourists alike. However, I am unsure if the restaurant has its own parking area, which might be worth checking beforehand. Just plan restroom breaks accordingly and be prepared for room temperature wine or (perhaps my fault I didn’t ask for a chilled bottle). My wife and I were looking for a nice dining experience unfortunately that was not to be the case at this establishment. I ordered the tenderloin steak, medium rare, which comes with fries. They brought the steak but did not bring out the steak sauce. So I then asked the waiter for some steak sauce and his reply was (sorry sir but we are not allowed to serve steak sauce with the tenderloin steak but we can only serve the steak sauce with the rib eye steak). I then re iterated to the server that I really don't like to eat my steak without steak sauce. He then replied (sorry sir but we are only following management rules). This establishment charges higher end pricing but they were so cheap and petty to bring me some steak sauce to go with my steak. I am sorry but I felt very humiliated begging for a simple request of having steak sauce for my steak. That is not an unreasonable request by any standards. I had a few bites of the food and it was very good. Unfortunately their customer service and their guest accomodation is far to be desired. I was very upset about what just transpired that my wife and I got up and left the restaurant. From speaking with the staff at the restaurant they advised me that this similar concern has been brought up by other guests in the past on several occasions. I am writing this review hoping that the management can see the pettiness of their decision of not serving steak sauce with their tenderloin steak. Dear management of Wine Connection @ Sukhumvit Alley 11. It’s Friday April 29, 2022; 10:05pm when I am entering your location just to be told that despite the fact that you are closing at 11:00pm you are not taking any more orders! The lady who is in the unfortunate role of having to announce this astonishing news to me is more than just embarrassed and so I am going to the cashier station to talk to the manager – simply because I can’t believe that under the current situation (actually even under normal “pre-pandemic” circumstances) a business is capable to turn down customers ONE HOURE BEFORE CLOSING! Having come to your place countless times within the last couple of years each time spending a very decent amount since I actually love the wines and dishes you are serving; I was totally taken aback and astonished about your blunt information. Apparently, your business is running extremely well enabling you to take a rather arrogant and up nosed position. You made it clear to me that you don’t need business – how else could such a reaction be justified or explained. Even when another staff tried to help by asking what I would like to order the manager told her “no – we don’t do that”. I can assure you that if it was my business that manager would have been replaced without a second thought. Anyhow, lessons learned – better spend money at places where business is welcome and at least appreciated by actually...
