Best sports bar in Bangkok. That sums it up really! The 2 Irish pubs on soi 33 alley Hanrattys and The Royal Oak (also my favourites to watch an occasional Premier League game) are a different flavour being less tailored to Sport but the Sportsman is fabulous in every way if you love pubs, like to watch sport (great layout and so many Screens it is impossible not to have a good place to watch the match and sport of your choice), and just relax in a place with really excellent service from a team who seem happy and well managed. The range of beers is excellent with a good happy hour range of deals but prices are reasonable out of happy hour too and comparable to the bars in the area. Even when there is no sport on, it is a nice place to come and have a beer or have a break from the heat of the day. Whoever does the music playlist has done a superb job which is an eclectic mix with a good selection from what we’re the halcyon days of most of the clientele (sadly the increasingly distant late 80s, 90s and early 00s). Each to their own of course but as someone who has been to many of the most Popular sports bars in the city, I rate this number one for easy conviviality, great drinks and service (and very good bar snacks) and the reliability that whatever sport you want from whatever country at whatever level (within pretty extreme limits) can be shown.
