I have been a big fan of Dum Handi Biryani, and have rated it 5 stars over the last 3 years on FoodPanda. The food was delicious, served hot and tasted like no other, so whenever I have craved for an authentic dum biryani, I have looked no beyond than Dum Hands Biryani.
However, this is a specific review I wanted to write here as the quality of food has significantly degraded over the last 6 months. I understand there could be multiple underlying reasons contributing to this, may be less revenues due to COVID or change of chef, but nothing, and absolutely NOTHING justifies a degrade in quality for an operator in the restaurant business.
What led me to write this review is my last order from Dum Handi Biryani, a Kolkata Chicken Dum Biryani. After a long day, I had a deep craving for a chicken biryani so this was my usual order. The food tasted slightly funny but given it was 11:30 PM, I didn't have many options on hand to order something fresh. And having shelled 550+ Baht (incl. FP delivery) for a biryani, I was in no mood of throwing my biryani away just because it tasted a bit different. I should have listened to my better half and like the one piece of chicken that I threw because I was almost 100% sure was stale, I should have just dumped the biryani in my trash can. And bear in mind, the biryani was piping hot when it came and my hunger didn't let me spare even a minute before I started hogging over my plate of biryani. What followed over the next day and the day after were rounds of vomits, loose motions, stomachaches, vertigo and a nauseated feeling I had never ever witnessed before. All in all, it was the recipe for a strong food poisoning, which a full week after, I have still not fully recovered from.
I took a vow after 2 days of that horrendous experience that I will never order biryani from Dum Handi Biryani, ever again. Why do I bother writing this review, if you would ask? Because I wouldn't want my worst enemy to go through what I went through the last week. I am sure people still have amazing experiences at this restaurant even today. But one thing's for sure, I am not rolling my dice with this restaurant.
P.S. - One other learning for sure has been to listen to my better half when she is insistent. Well, she is called "better"...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic Indian restaurant during my 3-day stay in Bangkok, and I must say, it was an absolute delight!
The North Indian cuisine served here is undoubtedly delicious. From rich curries to flavorful tandoori dishes, every bite was a burst of authentic flavors that transported me back to the streets of India. The chefs here truly know their craft, and the quality of the food speaks volumes.
What sets this place apart, however, is not just the delectable food but also the incredible staff. The team is incredibly cooperative, generous, sweet, and gracious. Their warmth made the dining experience even more memorable. They go above and beyond to ensure your satisfaction, and it truly feels like dining with family.
During my stay, I had dinner at this restaurant every night, and it never disappointed. If you're a fan of Indian cuisine, I highly recommend closing your eyes and heading straight here for a culinary journey. And, oh, don't miss their green chutney—it's absolutely awesome and adds an extra zing to the dishes.
Conveniently located near Nana Plaza, this gem of a restaurant stays open until 4 am. So, no need to worry about timings – whether it's an early dinner or a late-night craving, they've got you covered.
In conclusion, if you're in Bangkok and craving authentic North Indian food, do yourself a favor and visit this restaurant. You won't be...
Read moreOur dining experience at this restaurant was cute! It started with a cheer with our pani puri. Each bite was a perfect blend of flavors, truly a “party in your mouth.” Next, we had the Dum Hyderabadi Biryani, served in an adorable clay pot. The moment our waiter lifted the lid, we smelled the delicious aroma that can only be described as heavenly. The best part? We got to take the clay pot home!
A quick tip: the biryani takes about 30 minutes to prepare, but it’s well worth the wait. I can’t wait to return for more pani puri!
Biryani! Biryani! Biryani! My first bite of the Kolkata Chicken Biryani at this spot was not just delicious but unforgettable. Freshly made and ready in about 30 minutes, it arrives in an adorable claypot, making the experience even more special.
We also indulged in the Mutton Khosha, which came in a similar claypot and was equally impressive. Both dishes were bursting with flavor, and the fact that the food is halal is a major plus.
I'm glad we decided to return, and this place might just become one of our go-to spots in Bangkok. The menu includes detailed descriptions of the different types of Biryanis, which I thought was...
