Luxury Cozy Italian Restaurant at Oriental Residence.
Refined taste in an elegant hideaway This restaurant is located inside the Oriental Residence Hotel, making it a hidden gem for those seeking a refined Italian dining experience in a cozy yet luxurious atmosphere.
What I Ordered
Start with Burrata. One of my all-time favorites. The flavor was good, though I found it less juicy than expected. Still enjoyable, especially with the fresh sides served alongside.
Then, Roasted Japanese Pumpkin Soup. This dish was quite sweet and rich. I recommend enjoying it separately from your wine, as the sweetness can slightly overpower pairing. On its own, though, it’s delicious and comforting.
My main course, Grilled Angus Beef Tenderloin (Medium Rare). The quality of the beef was excellent—tender and flavorful. However, when I cut into it, it was a little more rare than I expected. If this happens to you, don’t hesitate to ask the staff to grill it a bit more. They’re happy to accommodate.
Ambience & Service The atmosphere here is quiet, refined, and beautifully decorated—perfect for romantic evenings or classy gatherings. The staff is professional and attentive, adding to the overall upscale experience.

They have (reservations) buffet menus, set menus with premium dishes (assorted cheese - sorry it didn't make it to the camera / Beef which is supposed to be rib eye - got serloin instead / foie gras - not a good quality that day so chef decided not to serve, thank you / snow fish, and other menus. We picked 1,299.- set which is 1 premium, 3 regular dishes with free flow mocktails. Beef- nothing to complain at all. I don't care if this is a substitute. Snow fish - the fish and whitish creamy sauce with bright green oil drops compliment each other well. Cheese - well ok Tuna tartar - bright and fresh, should try Beef tartar - yes please, careful that some flower or green leaves are bitter? Fish... cannot remember... a bit strong on fish odour. Not that it's bad or something. Smoked salmon - tasty, just the tuile (or crispy sliced bread? Not sure) was served in decorating green beans pot with red flour beetles มอด in it. Many of them were still walking around so we return it. See pink arrows in the pic, some of them are in camera focus. Caramel pudding is great for finishing.
Staffs know menus throughout. Beautiful and elegant atmosphere. Parking in front or in basement. All are convenient. So, besides from fish plate, beetles and lack of some menus, it's such a...
Read moreCafè Claire is the main food and beverage outlet for the Oriental Residence serviced apartments located next to the U.S. embassy on Wireless Road in Bangkok. It is a light and airy French influenced bistro, and since it's an "Oriental" branded property it's expensive. In fact, prices are on par with some of Bangkok's finest restaurants but unfortunately Cafè Claire isn't up to their standards.
My organic greens salad with poached egg was tasty enough, but at around 300 baht (US$ 10.00) there certainly could have been more of it. The same went for my French onion soup...small bowl for 300 baht. The potato gratiń was good but again the portion was tiny; and the cheapest water, imported Vittel, is 160 baht (over 5 dollars) for a small bottle.
The service isn't very polished either...the staff mixed up my water order...I ordered sparkling mineral water and was served still water; and not once did the staff top-up my glass of 5 dollar water nor ever return to inquire as to my meal after serving it. For me, it was no big loss as I was using a food and beverage credit included in my hotel stay but I would not recomment Cafè Claire to anyone who was not...
