Extremely Disappointed – 4-Star Hotel That Barely Deserves 1 Star
I booked this hotel based on its 4-star rating and good location, hoping for a relaxing and comfortable stay. While the location is indeed convenient and the room is spacious, everything else was a huge letdown.
The condition of the room was shockingly poor. From the moment I walked in, I noticed cracked walls, chipped and peeling paint, water damage, and rotting woodwork throughout. The walls were full of stains and spots that made the place feel dirty and neglected. Nothing about the room reflected the quality or maintenance you'd expect from a 4-star hotel — in fact, it felt like it hadn't seen proper upkeep in years.
The bathroom was the worst part. The toilet was in terrible shape — discoloured, outdated, and clearly not well-maintained. The shower was absolutely disgusting, filled with grime and visible mould/bacterial buildup. I genuinely felt uncomfortable using it and avoided it as much as possible during my stay.
This place does not deserve its 4-star rating, and I honestly felt deceived by the photos and misleading reviews on Expedia. I believe Expedia shares some responsibility for misrepresenting this hotel’s actual condition, and I hope they reconsider promoting this property the way they currently do.
I've attached photos to this review so you can see the reality for yourself. I would strongly advise future travelers to look elsewhere — the only thing this hotel has going for it is location and space, but that’s nowhere near enough to compensate for how neglected and run-down it really is.

When a property management is keen to improve and care about their reputation and their guests satisfaction it will be represented by their prompt actions and care to go above and beyond to assure guests experience is nothing less than pleasant. This is how I felt before I checked out today by the kind and satisfactory actions of Mr. Titin Suwanthab, the Guest Experience Manager. I have changed the overall rating of my review after his attention and action, and apparently, the pictures are for the old rooms that are waiting in turn for the renovation, so just ask before check-in. Read moreHad a wonderful stay at Novotel Bangkok Siam. The hospitality and warmth of the staff really stood out — special mention to Mint, who was extremely courteous and helpful throughout our stay. As Accor Gold members, we were offered an early check-in and enjoyed access to the Premier Lounge. The happy hours between 5–7 PM at the lounge were a great way to relax in the evening with a cup of hot chocolate for the kids & drinks for the adults. Maybe Nachos & Popcorn for vegetarians, plenty of snacks for others.
They noted my wife's birthday and decorated the room with some lovely flowers and a cake for us to celebrate her birthday on arrival, which was a lovely gesture by the Novotel team. We were staying here for 4Nights.
The location is absolutely prime — right in the heart of Siam, surrounded by shopping malls, cafes, and a walk-only lane just below the hotel that often has fun street performances and activities on special occasions and weekends. We thoroughly enjoyed the Halloween party on the street. Everything you need is just a short walk away, which makes the stay even more convenient and enjoyable.
On the flip side, the Indian food needs serious improvement. While they do make an effort to offer Indian dishes, the taste and authenticity were disappointing. For vegetarian guests, breakfast options are quite basic — mostly breads, cereals, juices, and salads. It would really help if the hotel brought in an Indian chef or provided proper training to make the food more authentic. But the service and courtesy from the team (Special Note to Mam, Pukky, Lif) makes up for it.
Another minor downside is that cabs can take longer to reach during events because of road restrictions on the internal lane. But if you walk just 2 minutes to the main road, you can easily find one.
I've attached some photos, videos of the property, lobby and the view from the rooms.
Overall, a lovely experience with an excellent service, perfect location, and great lounge perks. With better Indian vegetarian food, it would easily be a...

We had a wonderful stay at Novotel Bangkok on Siam Square, and what truly stood out was the exceptional service and prime location.
Service: From the moment we arrived, the staff impressed us with their warmth, professionalism, and genuine desire to make our stay comfortable. At check-in, “Dream” from the front desk went above and beyond when our pre-requested room wasn’t available, she thoughtfully upgraded us to the executive floor, which was a pleasant surprise.
During our stay, “Toy” assisted us with a request that couldn’t be fulfilled due to hotel policy. However, his kindness and thoughtfulness shone through, he graciously offered us two complimentary beverages, which we deeply appreciated.
On check-out day, I explained to Abdul at the front desk that my tailor was running late with a delivery. Although standard late check-out is until 2 PM, he kindly extended our stay to 3 PM so we could accommodate the situation and allow me to use the room for a final fitting.
These little gestures speak volumes. Across the board, Novotel staff genuinely care. They go the extra mile when needed and make you feel warmly welcomed throughout your stay.
Location: Absolutely unbeatable! The hotel is right in the heart of Siam Square, making it incredibly convenient for shopping, dining, and exploring the city. You’re just a short walk away from premier malls like Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Discovery, CentralWorld, MBK, Big C, Siam Square One, and Platinum Fashion Mall. The BTS Siam Station is just around the corner, making transport a breeze. You’re also close to great dining spots like Somboon Seafood, bustling night markets like Siam Night Market and Talad Neon, and cultural attractions such as the Erawan Shrine and Jim Thompson House.
Overall, a fantastic choice for anyone visiting Bangkok. We’ll...
