โญโญโญโญโญ Review โ Huang Chao: Royal Cantonese Dining at Its Finest
Walking into Huang Chao โ Royal Cantonese Cuisine felt like stepping into a royal banquet. We were greeted by six impeccably dressed staff in elegant Chinese cheongsam dresses, setting the tone for a luxurious dining experience. The table was beautifully set with polished silverware, giving us that โspecial occasionโ feeling right from the start.
We ordered the Peking Duck with the three-course option โ Sang Choi Bau, Sweet & Sour Duck, and Black Bean Stir-Fry. The presentation was nothing short of theatrical. A full team arrived to present the duck, and the carver, wearing pristine white gloves, expertly prepared each slice with care and precision. Each guest received around seven perfectly wrapped duck pancakes โ and I counted at least 21 plates used just for this course alone!
The service was flawless throughout the evening. Drinks were constantly topped up, plates cleared discreetly, and the staff anticipated our needs without ever being intrusive. It felt like we had our own private dining team looking after us.
The food itself was superb โ the duck skin was crisp, the meat tender and flavourful, and the side dishes offered the perfect balance of texture and taste. The Sang Choi Bau was fresh and crunchy, the Sweet & Sour Duck perfectly balanced, and the Black Bean Stir-Fry rich and savoury.
This is easily one of the best Chinese dining experiences Iโve had in Thailand. The hospitality, attention to detail, and level of professionalism were exceptional. If youโre looking for an unforgettable night of Royal Cantonese cuisine, this is the place to be.

Set within the magnificent Royal Cliff Grand hotel, it exudes opulence and high quality from the moment you arrive. Unfortunately there were only 3 of us Dining, when in reality the food received would easily serve five people.
Initially greeted with a complimentary Shrimp Amuse Bouche and glasses of chilled water. Along side this we also had unlimited Chinese Tea. We only chose two starters, Crispy Prawns and deep fried prawn balls, both served with a choice of two sauces, perfect to set us up for what was coming.
We then had the very popular Peking Duck. A very large size crispy skin duck. It is traditionally served with Hoi Sin sauce, cucumber and spring onions on a small pancake. You should note that it is typically served with only the crispy skin, although I believe they will carve the meat for you if requested. Approximately 20 servings from the one duck, so much that we couldn't finish them all.
The Chef's then prepared the remaining duck meat into your requested style. We love the sweet and sour, so a massive plate arrived, again so much that 50% was taken home. To accompany this we had a generous portion on Yang Chow Fried Rice. The Chefs also prepared a complimentary duck soup, which we ended up taking home also.
All in all a fantastic meal that again, would have easily served five people.
Only one very small negative, they are only open on a Friday evening.
Total cost for a fantastic evening was around 3,300 baht, with enough to takeaway to feed us all the next day.
