The view and the band are the only reason this doesn't get a 1 star!
As the elevator was out of order it's a long walk up to the top which isn't that much of an issue it doesn't give the best first impression!
The atmosphere is great, a live band playing good music if a little loud for a nice conversation. But the main selling point is the view of the Grand Palace and Bangkok skyline. It truly is a must see view however I hardly think it's worth the price to stay even for 1 drink!
Whilst the food did look great it's price was disgusting compared to local prices. When the street food stalls outside. 150baht for 5 spring rolls when the stall right out front is 10baht a piece....
The service is poor and I found the staff to be incredibly rude! One snatched the menu out of my hand whilst I was still deciding reading it trying to decide if the food was worth paying for, to give to a different table, who arrived after our group but who's drinks arrived first (both sides ordered a couple of beers but the other group got served first) Now I know that in Asia this is normal but when the staff were so rude and unwelcoming in all other aspects it would've been a simple courtesy.
I was eating with a group of people and was skipped over when ordering. The staff never bothered to check and whilst I have always sided with the service staff in the past I can't excuse it this time.
I felt unwanted and decided to leave my party to eat and headed outside where I sat down with a 40baht pad Thai that was a larger portion than the 150baht one ordered by one of my traveling companions.
My advice is to look up online drone footage of the skyline from your phone, skip the restaurants and bars and just get some food on Kohsan road! You'll spend much less and enjoy the food...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy visit to Bangkok View offered a blend of admiration and surprises. The ambiance of the place lived up to its name, offering a picturesque view of Bangkok that captivates from the moment you step in. The setting was nicely arranged, and the overall vibe of the place was inviting, making it an appealing choice for anyone looking to soak in the beauty of the city in a comfortable environment.
However, my initial delight was quickly tempered by the pricing of the drinks. I was taken aback when I found out a single drink from a Coke Zero to water cost 150 Thai Baht, which felt steep by any standard. The situation took a slightly more positive turn when I learned that prices would be more favorable if I also ordered food. While this might appeal to some as a clever way to enjoy a meal with drinks at a better price, I couldnāt help but feel that this detail should have been communicated more transparently upfront.
Another aspect of my visit that left me feeling uncomfortable was the service. The staff, while attentive, was overly pushy. It seemed as if every few minutes, there was a gentle nudge to order more or make decisions faster than I was ready for. This level of assertiveness from the service team detracted from the otherwise relaxing experience the venue promises.
In conclusion, while Bangkok View boasts a splendid location with a view thatās hard to match, the experience is marred by high drink prices and overly aggressive service. Future visitors might find this spot worth the visit for the view alone, but Iād advise being prepared for the potential push towards higher spending. A more laid-back approach and clearer pricing information could make Bangkok View an unparalleled destination for both locals and...
