Don't know why this listing still has the previous restaurant reviews, but the new cantonese duck place was extremely disappointing. this is suppose to be an authentic hong kong style roast goose place but falls short of anything related to hong kong.
granted the store is new and they're in their soft opening, but given that the core cantonese dishes are executed so horribly, i worry this place won't last that long. i don't see how they can charge the premium they're asking when it's not even authentic. machew's in sathorn is infinitely superior and excellent when it comes to roasted meats, no wonder they're always sold out and close early once the meat is all gone for the day.
disregard all the positive reviews as those are from the previous butcher's shop, that clearly was better than this...
Read moreIn 2023–2024, Apollo Duck was one of Bangkok’s most hyped new restaurants, with its sleek, mouthwatering ads showcasing glistening roast ducks, crispy pork belly, and generous bowls of noodles, it looked promising as a feast that looked both indulgent and satisfying. For this reason, I decided to try visiting the restaurant to try their roast duck.
Upon arrival, the long queue outside was a promising sign of its popularity. The buzz was good with many people going in and out of the restaurant, further increasing my expectations. However, things began to shift once I got a closer look at the menu, the prices were surprisingly steep. Still, I hoped the food would justify the cost.
Unfortunately, in my personal opinion, the experience didn’t live up to the hype. The portions were comparably small against the price charges, and the flavors, while decent, were nothing extraordinary. The roast duck and crispy pork were standard fare — not bad, but not memorable either. What really dampened the experience was the wait time. The food took a long time to arrive and was already semi-cold when served, which meant the crispy pork skin had lost its crunch.
The noodles and soup were particularly underwhelming. The soup had a distinct, unpleasant smell, and the portion size was disappointing. Overall, the duck tastes ok, but the portions and price charged are not worth the wait.
I also bought some home for my family to try and like me, they didn't enjoy the overall taste of the products and were shocked by...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at the newly opened Cantonese BBQ restaurant, Apollo Duck, and I must say that it was nothing short of a celestial experience!
The star of the show, without a doubt, was their signature Roast Duck. The skillfully roasted duck boasted a tantalizing aroma that was simply to die for. Each bite revealed the perfect balance of succulent, juicy meat and an impeccably crispy skin, leaving me craving more with every morsel. The masterful blend of flavors and textures truly made it an unforgettable dish.
The Soya Sauce Chicken was also equally impressive. The tender, flavorful chicken was expertly cooked in a rich, aromatic sauce that made my taste buds dance with delight. I couldn't help but savor each bite, as the succulent meat melted in my mouth like a dream.
The authenticity of the Wonton dish deserves special mention as well. The delicate, silky wrappers were generously filled with a delicious, seasoned mixture that transported me straight to the bustling streets of Hong Kong. The accompanying broth was light yet flavorful, making it the perfect partner for these heavenly dumplings.
Apollo Duck is a Cantonese BBQ gem that has won my heart with its exquisite dishes, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience that will leave a...
