Stella — Restaurant in Yan Nawa Subdistrict

Long review because I have so many things to say. Tl;dr - great drinks, but staff felt very condescending. Didn't enjoy the night.

Stella bar, 4th of June from 21:00-23:50, Seated directly in front of the music band. Male in white shirt waited our table.

1. Sat down, haven't ordered anything yet, asked if we could move to the corner table because it became vacant + no reserved sign. No hassle move since there wasn't much to move over (we could've done it ourselves). The wauter said "อย่าขอย้ายเลยครับ วันนี้เต็มมาก" 5-10 mins later somebody sat there, clearly from the wedding reception right next door. I'm assuming it was an impromptu walk-in. Regardless whether it was or not, the way he phrased it was rude for what one would expect from this establishment.

2. Some minutes later, he asked for our order and we asked for some more time, his reply was "ถ้ายิ่งใช้เวลาคิดนาน ก็จะยิ่งทำนานนะครับ". Basically rushing us to order. I thought the whole point of this bar is it's unique, experimental drinks. If rushing is the concept of this bar, I'd suggest changing the whole menu because I'd have no clue what's in "HAIDAO GALA" nor it's taste profile, and remove the snippets of historical figures too, so people spend less time reading the menu.

3. My friend said he's interested in the Bugeisha drink (amazing drink, btw) but the ingredients seem savory and he was on the fence about it. The waiter then said something along the lines of "สั่งเหอะครับ คุณไม่รู้หรอกว่าพวกเราใส่อะไรไปในเครื่องดื่ม ใส่อย่างไง". Sounding downright condescending.

4. He asked if I wanted another drink, I said yes, can I please have the menu. He said "ไม่เป็นไร เดี๋ยวผมให้เขาทำอะไรมาให้แล้วกัน". I refused and said I wanted the menu, so he brought me the menu. I understand the element of surprise if you ask them for suggestions based on your preference. But here I am, not having asked for his suggestion but having to ask twice for the menu.

5. I finished my drink before my friend did, and the waiter came right when my friend just finished his drink to take my order, I asked for a minute and I'll order at the same time as my friend. He responded "คิดนานแบบนี้ เดี๋ยวนักร้องเขากลับบ้านก่อนนะครับ". This was around 22:20 at most, more than an hour before the bar closed.

Being in hospitality myself, I cannot understand his attitide. This is a luxurious bar in a 5-star hotel, serving 480 Baht cocktails, with a sub-par service (I'm referring to this specific waiter only). Maybe it was bad communication skills/bad humour, maybe selective treatment, maybe just a bad night. Regardless, he turned a night that should've been phenomenal to one I just couldn't enjoy with his constant and unnecessary input. I didn't want to address it then because my friend was really excited to bring his mother and I to this bar and I didn't want to make them more uncomfortable than they already were.

Anyways, the drinks, atmosphere and entertainment are amazing. And maybe the other waiters are great, but I can't comment on that. I wouldn't recommend coming here because there are other places with great drinks AND service.

Stella Bar at Capella Bangkok is one of the places we frequent because we have stayed at the hotel many times. Although we haven’t stayed as often recently, we still regularly visit Stella Bar.

For us, Stella Bar is the best and most enjoyable hotel bar. It’s not just about the great drinks the atmosphere and service make every visit feel like coming home.

The ambiance here is excellent the lighting, music, décor, and the friendliness of the staff all create a warm and welcoming environment. Every Saturday night, there is live music that brings the place to life, especially Khun Lookjun, a talented and entertaining singer who always makes our evenings fun and special.

The drinks are equally impressive, especially those made by Khun Toon, the Assistant Bar Manager, whom we have known for a long time. He crafts delicious cocktails with great attention to detail and a unique style. Khun Ice is another staff member who provides excellent and charming service, making the atmosphere even more inviting.

On our most recent visit, we met Khun Miriam, the new Bar Manager, for the first time. Even though we just met her, she immediately impressed us with her friendly and attentive personality. Without us needing to say much, she understands our preferences and can recommend drinks perfectly.

Another important person to mention is Khun Joy, the Assistant Director of Food & Beverage, who has been very kind to us since we started staying or dining at the hotel and bar. She is warm, approachable, and attentive to every detail, which is another reason why we feel so good about this place.

We would also like to mention Khun Yok and Khun Nook, who are both incredibly friendly and dedicated. Their attention and warm service always make us feel valued and welcomed they truly add to the positive energy of Stella.

Every time we come, there is always a handwritten card placed on our table — a small gesture that shows the team’s genuine care and attention to us.
