Extremely disappointed with this visit. My husband and I had a great experience here last year, so despite seeing recent 1-star reviews, I insisted we return. Big mistake. After we finished our meal, an older woman brought chips to our table. We told her we didn’t order them, but she insisted they were for us. Minutes later, we saw her apologize to another table for forgetting their chips—clearly confirming they were meant for them, not us.
We ate a few out of confusion but left the rest. When the bill came, we weren’t shown a receipt, just given a high total. I leaned over and saw we were charged for the chips. When I politely said we didn’t order them, she got aggressive, stomped over, and literally shoved the chips in our faces in front of other customers, insisting we pay. It was embarrassing and completely uncalled for.
She also charged us for water that was brought to the table without us asking—something usually complimentary at Turkish restaurants. We weren’t informed it would be added to the bill.
We paid in full, but the experience was upsetting—not because of the money, but because of the lack of honesty, professionalism, and basic courtesy. Hard to believe it was the same person who welcomed us so warmly last year.
Also, the bread was cold, portions were tiny, and overall food quality didn’t match the price. Won’t...
Read moreThe best restaurant thus far in Turkey that I’ve been in. We started with the appetiser the lentil soup (Name: Mercimek Corbasi / Lentila Soup) and it was already very tasty.
Next came the ravioli homemade pasta, this is not on the menu. So you’ll have to ask them specifically for the “homemade ravioli”. This is the best ravioli I ate in my life.
The mains we ordered were the butter curry sauce braised chicken (Name: Tereyagli Korili Tavuk Kavurma) and the grilled green cutlet (Name: Kasap Kofte) which looked like flatten beef balls - both like the first dishes did not disappoint. The curry in particular was so unique it goes extremely well with the bread.
Lastly, the dessert we got was the rice pudding (Name: Anne Sutlaci). We were quite sceptical with this dish, but oh boy did it blew our minds again.
Overall: 10 out of 5 stars I have to say. The food was already fantastic, the cherry on top of the icing was the highly approachable and friendly staff that tried their best to explain each dish despite them not well versed in English (they used google translate to try their best). Definitely coming back here again before we...
Read moreWe were looking for a vegan friendly place, preferably with AC, to eat out in hot and humid evening.
At Dikket Et, they have limited vegan options but the guy who runs the place is accommodative, he helped us choose our dinner, could be a bit pushy at times though.
We had: Çorba (lentil soup) - it was a bit bland. Spices are provided if you want to spice it up.
Penne Napolitan sauce - Good portion. Be careful with olives pits, as they are not pitted. We found that the salt seasoning was much milder while boiling the pasta. Otherwise it was fine.
Turkish Potato Malti (ravioli type dumplings) - This is not Italian ravioli but it is just a lookalike dish. Traditionally topped up with yogurt and sauce, but I can be veganised on request.
Piyaz - bean salad with tahini. Traditionally served with chopped boiled eggs, but they can avoid the eggs to make it vegan. It was really delicious.
Salad - fresh and crispy. Again, olives come with pits.
Prices were a bit steep though. We paid similar to what we usually pay in the UK while eating out. Please note, Turkish inflation has a part to play in...
