Porters English Pub — Restaurant in Abu Dhabi

Outstanding 5 star Entertainment, terrible Ala carte food. In our 8 years in Abu Dhabi I can honestly say we have been to Porters brunch more times than any other. It is a budget brunch with a fantastic in-house band who make the whole experience second to none.

In my experience there are 7 key things when it comes to brunch: Cost Food Drinks Service Location / views Comfort / ambience Entertainment

This is definitely at the lower end cost for a brunch. As I have said we have been lots of times and have often managed to get a deal. However, there are no deals available at the moment and we paid 179AEDs each to include alcohol. Very good value for money. Also, it is a 4 hour brunch which is a better amount of time than some of the shorter ones.

The food has changed from buffet to Ala Carte (which was a very brief pub grub type menu). This would of been ok, but 2 of our party had cold meals served. The Porters Burger and crispy dill fries and the Roast Dinner. They returned them to the kitchen, and the same food was returned to our table 10mins later and it was still cold. Very disappointing. We had always loved the old buffet and were very disappointed this time with the food overall. We would never usually complain, so for us to send the food back shows how bad it was.

The drinks are ok. As usual, not much choice of beer. I don't understand why when there are so many pumps behind the bar. Wine was pleasant but small glasses.

The Service was excellent and our waitress was very friendly and pleasant despite the awful drama with the food.

There is no view as it is a bar in a city hotel. The seats are comfortable enough and we just love the relaxed pub feel.

The live entertainment, as usual, was second to none and is the main reason why we keep heading back to Porters.

Definitely a good value for money brunch and I would of given it 5 stars for a budget brunch if the food had been better or at least had...

Porters English Pub is the perfect spot for anyone looking to enjoy good food, refreshing drinks, and fantastic live music all in one place. From the moment we walked in, the welcoming atmosphere and lively energy set the tone for an unforgettable evening.

We started with the quesadilla, and it was absolutely fantastic—packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and the ideal comfort food to kick off our night. Pairing it with their impressive beer selection was a great decision. They had something for every palate, from light and refreshing brews to rich and bold flavors.

What truly stood out, though, was the staff. Everyone we interacted with was incredibly friendly, but Loui deserves a special mention. He was attentive, personable, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. His exceptional service added a personal touch to the evening that we’ll remember.

The highlight of the night, however, was the live band, The Metro. Their performance was nothing short of amazing! They brought so much energy and talent to the stage, creating a vibrant and electric atmosphere that had everyone engaged. They’re undoubtedly a huge draw for the bar, and we’ll definitely be coming back just to see them perform again.

I have been a regular customer here in this Pub and bring a lot of my friends with me because of the ambiance, great band, and excellent service crews. However, last night one of the staff, I think the manager, approached me and asked me why I was there and I was shocked and confused. He told me that I made a bad review here on Google and showed me the name of who made the review (Jim Apaz) and it wasn't me I don't do reviews anywhere I go but now, I will. At first, he didn't believe me so my first instinct was to show him my FB so I could prove it wasn't me and told him if I was him why would I be here???? And he told me that he was about to escort me out if I were the one who posted a bad review.

We were having a great time last night but when it happened it bothered me and my friends for the rest of the stay and needed to leave early and transfer to a new club. I know it was a misunderstanding but you cannot go around people and ask why you posted a bad review without making sure you approached the right person it's a vibe killer. He was also extremely intimidating and he thought that he was very sure that it was me. Now, we decided not to go back there ever.
