We had an incredibly disappointing experience at this restaurant My uncle wanted to order mashed potatoes from the kids’ menu, one serving for himself and one for his kid. The waitress, however, informed us that adults were not allowed to order from the kids’ menu, which was frustrating and unaccommodating.

We also ordered desserts, which were pre-prepared and displayed, yet it took 20 minutes to bring them out. The restaurant wasn’t even busy, so this delay felt unreasonable. Our coffee was served after the dessert, despite us ordering them together, and we were hoping to enjoy both simultaneously.

When we requested a second portion of the kids’ mashed potatoes, they brought it without a fork and knife. We tried to signal for cutlery, but instead, they brought the bill and a card machine, which was completely out of place. Every time we needed something, the staff ignored the empty plates on our table and seemed disinterested, making us call them back repeatedly.

Such a disappointing experience. I visited for lunch with friends and was extremely disappointed with the service. First it took 10 to 12 minutes to get anyone's attention, and when we did the request to have a menu took another 5 minutes. I ordered a specific item by menu name, the female african staff member insisted on calling it "soup," arguing until I reluctantly agreed.

Then, I requested two sunny side up eggs on toast, a simple ask. The server said not possible. Check with the chef was my ask. She refused without checking with the chef. Only after a supervisor stepped in was it reluctantly approved, but with unnecessary conditions, the eggs would be served separately, and I’d have to assemble them myself, all while charging me for a larger menu item that made zero sense.

We returned to Café Bateel, this time for breakfast and it was just as incredible as ever!!! The moment we walked in, the warm, inviting atmosphere made us feel right at home.

We tried the ‘avocado toast’, and it was absolute perfection, creamy, fresh, and topped with just the right crunch. Even better? The açai bowl, bursting with flavor, super refreshing, and beautifully presented. Every bite felt like a treat!

But what truly made our morning special was our server, Eh Eh . She was so kind, attentive, and full of genuine warmth, the kind of hospitality that makes you want to come back again and again.
