When a dear friend recommended Hashmi Barbeque in Barsha, i was a little skeptical. But I knew I could be in for something special, considering how much she talked it up—I didn’t, however, anticipate just how exceptional it would actually be. From the first bite to the last, every element of the meal, service, and ambiance worked in perfect harmony to create an experience that felt memorable.
Let me start with the chicken—the star of the whole show. This was not your average grilled chicken; it was perfectly marinated, infused with deep, robust flavours that spoke of meticulous preparation. Grilled to absolute perfection, boasting a tantalizing char that delivered smoky undertones while keeping the meat incredibly tender and juicy. You could taste the expertise behind each bite—a true testament to my friend’s choice and Hashmi’s dedication to their craft.
As any seasoned foodie knows and will tell you, great sauces can elevate a dish from good to unforgettable. Hashmi’s sauces were a revelation!!each one bursting with unique flavours, well-balanced in their spice, richness, and texture. Individually, they were fantastic, but here’s where things got even more interesting: my friend suggested mixing them all together. I’m not one, typically, for mixing sauces like this and did so reluctantly. This simple move, I tell you, created a flavour explosion, blending the best elements of each sauce into one powerhouse of taste. If you visit, take my (and my friend’s) advice—mix them. You won’t regret it.
The Pili Pili fries were a great addition—well-seasoned and boasting a solid depth of flavour. However, a small lesson learned: eat them first. By the time I got to them, they had lost some of their crispiness, which was more my fault than theirs. Had I ate them right away, I’m sure they would’ve packed an even bigger punch. Regardless, they were a solid side, complementing the meal nicely.
Service can make or break a dining experience, and here’s where Hashmi shone bright. The staff were plentiful and attentive, ensuring that every guest felt welcomed and well cared for. There was never a moment where service was lacking, and what stood out even more was the efficiency with which the food arrived—piping hot, straight from the kitchen to the table. This meant no unnecessary delays, no waiting for lukewarm food that had been sitting on a counter. It was clear that customer satisfaction is a priority here, and they delivered on that promise effortlessly.
For the quality of food and service, the price felt more than reasonable. Hashmi Barbeque strikes that perfect balance—offering an elevated dining experience without an over-the-top price tag. It’s the kind of place where you leave not just satisfied, but feeling like you got incredible value for what you paid.
Overall, Hashmi Barbeque Restaurant is an absolute must-visit. If you’re looking for a meal that excels in flavour, service, and value, this spot ticks every box. From the perfectly grilled chicken and unforgettable sauces to the warm hospitality and fair pricing, it’s a place I would return to in a heartbeat.
Highly, highly...
Read moreBeing married into a family with roots from Kenya, I was coerced into venturing into this rather unique place. Now after what seems like my 8th visit, it struck me to share my flavourful experience.
Due to the family invading this spot on a regular basis, the owners and their employees are familiar with them so finding a table for 15 people for us during busy periods is not an entirely unsurmountable task for them.
During the first few visits, I did not have to perturb my brain power in looking for what to order so surrendered my decision making to the seasoned pros. After being reassured that the poussin is entirely authentic and the best thing ever (even better than sliced bread) my taste buds were slightly let down, maybe due to being overwhelmed by the sheer compliments for the dish by those surrounding me.
However to my delight, a hero emerged in the form of the chicken breast tikka which was quite tasty and more than edible therefore my pick of the menu and my sole order for the subsequent visits. It can be enjoyed with the many carbohydrates the place has to offer such as the fresh butter naan, the masala fries or the pilipili chips. Resistance is futile so I succumbed to all three to the disgust of my weighing scales.
The food is washed down nicely with one of their many juices with my pick being the Passion flavour.
I do highly recommend this place and think everyone would enjoy this unique spot in Dubai to enjoy the culinary delights of East Africa.
Pro tip: for people who depart via taxi, ensure you pick a 5 star confident driver. As the place is on a very busy road, our hesitant chauffeur took some of the family and left the others stranded due to his lack of confidence to hold up the growing and noisy traffic. A 20 minute detour later and a much higher than expected taxi fare, he returned to the delight of my 4 year old daughter to take us somewhat safely...
Read moreI was introduced to this place by a friend and he mentioned they are legendary in Kenya. If you are a fan of east african grills, then this place is perfect for you. Located in a bustling street in Barsha, I was quite surprised to see a totally packed restaurant.
The ambiance is apt for families and groups of friends. We started off with refreshing n chilled passionfruit juice and then ordered the following- Boneless Chicken Tikka, Mutton Seekh Kebab, Lamb Chops, Fish Tikka, Chicken Chooza, Chicken Poussin, Naan, Masala Chips and Pili Pili Chips. I’m very fussy when it comes to meat and grills, it must be fresh and juicy, or else it’s just not worth it. Well, no wonder this place is so popular, their lamb chops and specialty chicken Chooza dishes were just scrumptious in flavour and texture, well marinated in their secret sauces and grilled to smokey perfection. I just couldn’t help reaching out for a 2nd round, even their Poussin chicken had a masala twist to fried chicken. Their Naan is totally different in texture, so soft and paired well with the mains. Another hit for me were their flavoured chips and their super creamy kulfi. The way they serve their meat platters with lots of salad veggies makes it’s paleo and keto friendly too.
There is ample RTA parking on either sides of the street. They don't accept any reservations; its walk in on first come first serve basis. I truly appreciate the fact that they don't charge for drinking water here, that's the most amazing gesture ever (so rare in Dubai) and the staff were super...
