Chef Satish Arora has been in the culinary scene the for past 50 years and is considered an icon in the Indian scene, having served celebrities and royalty including the likes of Queen Elizabeth and Bill Clinton. Chef Satish has since brought his magic to Mahec, located in the fabulous Le Meridien hotel in Garhoud.
The restaurant itself nicely decorated with two gorgeous chandeliers in the restaurants that brightens up the venue.
I really enjoyed the refreshing cocktails that are served here as they are original filled with creativity. While they are not over the top, they are combining every day ingredients that you would not have thought of using in the drinks, which results in tasty combinations.
Presentations of the dishes were also excellent as you eat with your eyes first in most cases. Seeing something visually appealing undoubtedly helps with the appetite and my nose was tingling with the fragrant-ness of each dish.
The portion sizes were great. They were large enough to satisfy your craving after your first bite, but not overly large that you get stuffed and are unable to eat anything else. Chef Satish did a great job of creating the menu which allows you to really taste the ingredients of each dish, if you are not busy swallowing the whole thing down because it is so tasty!
I really enjoyed the creativity on the appetisers and desserts. It would be nice if the same could be applied for the main courses. I had about 5 main dishes and the presentation looked about the same as everywhere else that I have had the same dish. As I mentioned earlier, most people who are eaters will eat with their eyes first and my eyes were not drawn to the main courses the same say they were with the appetisers and desserts.
I felt there were slight miss timing on the cooking times of certain dishes. The naan was slightly overcooked with some burnt/charcoal underneath the naan. WHile many restaurants will say this is natural due to the cooking process, I have had naan prepared the same way without anything black on the bottom. I experienced the same issue with cooking times with the prawns, but that is a simple fix.

Read moreLast week, we had a lot of guests for the Holiday season and had to cancel a lot of official lunches and dinner tastings. None the less, we still had to eat and since its festive season, Brunches are the best options! We went on to try the Friday brunch at Mahec located at Le Meridian Village in Garhoud.
Interior
The interiors are spacious, classy and well done. There’s a bar counter, a buffet spread, dancing area/Lounge and dining area. Wooden flooring and the natural sunlight also gives out natural vibes.
Starters
For the Brunch, they served 3 variety of chaat at the table. We got Dahi Puri, Pani Puri shots, and puri chaat.
The chaat was authentic and we loved the Pani puri shots. It was spicy and crisp…definitely fresh.
Grill
The grill was also served on the tables and being prepared in the backyard of Mahec. We got the lamb chops, chicken, and spicy fish.
All the BBQ had their own flavors. My favorite was the fish and the lamb chops.
Main course
The buffet had more than a decent amount of variety. They had a dish in Prawn, mutton, chicken, vegetables, soya bean, curries, and dal. Fresh naan and Biryani rice. The good part was that every dish had its own flavor palette and was excellent.
The good part was that every dish had its own flavor palette and was excellent in taste and quality. The bad part – Why no Biryani ?????
Desserts
Fresh Gulab jamuns, Ras malai, mango mousse, and Fig custard in desserts. Tried it all and loved it all.
Shoutout to the head chef – Asif Khan (if not mistaken) for serving quality dishes and having an excellent spread of variety! Hope I see some Biryani the next time we are back. I wouldn’t mind going back to Mahec even for some a la carte!
The service was good too contrary to the last time I had an Indian Brunch, it was a disaster. You can check out the review of...
Read moreI recently visited Mahec in Dubai, and it was an outstanding dining experience, especially for vegetarians. The restaurant has a beautiful ambiance, combining modern elegance with traditional Indian design elements. The service was attentive and professional, making the experience even more enjoyable.
We started with the Tandoor Veg Platter, a fantastic assortment of vegetables like paneer, mushrooms, and bell peppers, all perfectly marinated and grilled. Each bite was full of smoky, charred flavor and tender textures. It was a great introduction to the meal.
For the mains, we ordered a variety of dishes. The Paneer Tikka Masala was rich and creamy, with the paneer cooked just right and enveloped in a flavorful, mildly spiced tomato-based gravy. Paneer Kadai was another standout, with chunks of paneer in a spicy, tangy gravy, garnished with bell peppers and onions—a perfect combination of flavors.
We also had Veg Masala, a comforting, flavorful dish packed with mixed vegetables in a well-spiced, aromatic gravy. It was hearty and satisfying. The Butter Roti and Naan were both perfectly soft and fluffy, while the Missi Roti added a nice touch of rustic, earthy flavor to balance the richness of the gravies.
To complement our meal, we ordered a selection of drinks and cocktails. The drinks were refreshing, with some interesting Indian-inspired twists that paired wonderfully with the spices of the food. The cocktails were equally impressive, with creative mixes that elevated the dining experience.
Overall, Mahec delivered a memorable and delicious vegetarian dining experience. The flavors were authentic and expertly executed, and the combination of great service and a warm atmosphere made for a perfect evening. Whether you’re a local or visiting Dubai, I highly recommend Mahec for anyone craving a high-quality...
