Absolutely disappointed with the service, half of the menu was sold out. Waiters didn't announce about missing positions for the menu, they did it only when we sat down, and when we started to make our choice 30 minutes later and were very hungry. Colorful Outside banner was advertising Gyro for a low acceptable price of 11.50-one of the lowest prices on the menue for the mains,we tried to order another dish with meat, also sold out. When giving us our menus waitress advised to order for starter and main. Advertised a lot small dishes for share. They offered something else when we discovered that gyro all gone, but no info about ingridients. When we asked about ingridients manager could not explain about ingridients but adked about alkergies. In the end we didnt get that info and person asking ended up with tap water,no order. From 4 people only two people made some order but only because we spend much time in there and were hungry. Also we pointed out that missing menu items with small price are still on outside banner which is confusing for people who want to order it but, manager who was dealing with us didnt respond to it at all and didnt react at all.Tried mousaka,it was nice. Mousaka was all made and you could see it was prepared and waiting for customers in the window display. So basically with mousaka they just heat it up. Price is 14.90. Would not come back to this place for sure, dissapointed. Hope this review will be some point for improvement.I understand it was busy on the day but having items listed on display which attracts people and fact that staff do not announce sold out items untill you sit down, get menus and are ready to order show this place as very...
Read moreOur favourite place to eat when in Bath! Admittedly we are huge fans of Greek food, and whilst there are numerous delightful places to eat in the city, Jars Meze just ticks every box for us. Sadly my phone camera doesn’t do the food justice, but the ‘deconstructed’ Chicken Gyros (pitta bread thoughtfully placed to the side - no soggy bottom here), whilst the chicken sits atop seasoned chips, with a scattering of fresh crisp onion, accompanied by a small salad of leaves with vinegarette dressing and a tasty helping of Tatziki. Meanwhile the husbands Beef Stifado (hearty cuts of beef and perfectly cooked shallots) had him driven to near silence, interjected with sounds of happy munching and groans which would have probably made it to the final cut of When Harry Met Sallys infamous restaurant scene. Washed down with a bottle of cold Mythos and the blackest of Greek coffees, we were almost transported to our last holiday in Santorini (many moons ago), but thankfully, Bath is a damn sight cheaper to get to so we’re counting the days till we can head back to Jars for another delicious meal, where the only difficult decision will be what to pick...
Read moreHad a lovely evening here, all the staff are great and location is great. Unfortunately, I didn't feel my stifado was bursting with flavour, but I tried some of what my girlfriend had ordered which was absolutely lovely. I have given a four star review mainly because I don't feel the prices reflected the portion sizes, especially the Saragli which was four small pieces and two apricots for £5.60. In addition to the portion sizes, the reason for four stars is the young lad who would benefit from double knotting his laces! He must have retied them about five times in the duration of about 1.5 hours. Whilst comical, he always sat on on the stairs to do this and would occasionally put his hand on the stairs to stand up. I never saw him sanitise or wash his hands afterwards. I must say though that this young lad was helpful, it's just the laces, he needs to double knot them!
I would be happy to return, but was disappointed by the price to portion size ratio and would therefore appreciate better portion sizes that better...
