This food restaurant was absolutely 10/10. I had such a beautiful time with my partner. We went on a Sunday and the kind host mentioned the kitchen only had a few beef and chicken dinners left, which was really kind of her to mention because otherwise we could have missed out. I didn't catch her name but she greeted us with a smile and took our order with no hesitation. There were two birthday parties happening and the restaurant staff and guests sang everyone happy birthday and have them some free deserts which is so nice and adds a very warm atmosphere. We were served drinks by THE BEAUTIFUL EVA! she has been working at browns only a matter of weeks however you'd think she was a veteran Browns employees. She is kind, she was asking us very polite and lovely questions about our experience in Birmingham and I was shocked because she seemed to have worked for a long time. We had never been to browns before so I'm really happy. Then the main events (yes there were multiple). One being a live pianist! oh my, what a treat. he played some well known pop songs and had many of us singing along. I would say, it's not a place for a very quiet Sunday, it's a social environment where you can still have an intimate meal with friends and family, a gathering or a birthday/anniversary/leaving party. It was that perfect balance not too loud and still entertaining. We ordered a ginger beer and a coffee as we didn't want to drink and the coffee came with a little biscuit which was a fabulous touch!! I'm overhwmed with joy at this place. The food was a little pricy. £17 ish per head for just the food but it was the best roast dinner I've ever had in my 25 year life (don't tell my grandma). I had the beef and it was succlent, the rich gravy added flavour, the Yorkshire was definitely freshly made on site and everything including the veg was cooked to perfection. I would say the chicken was something I envied! I tasted my partners and I was craving more. I'd get that next time. all in all, a little bit expensive for a spontaneous meal, next time we are going to plan to go on payday and if you go on Sunday for a roast go around 2pm or earlier because there's a reason they sell out by 5pm because they have the best roast dinners in Birmingham. Please give them a try! It's 100 worth the money in the end!! Thanks Eva for making our day and to the chef's for what was an experience, not...
Read moreOur first visit here, and it was for a Sunday lunch. Unfortunately the experience was a bit underwhelming, possibly more so as I was really looking forward to it. It is popular so we booked well in advance. On arrival we had a nice greeting but apparently there were only three tables available one under the clock which felt as though it was in a busy alleyway, or one of two right next to the entrance doors. We chose the latter but this was in a draught made worse as they had the inner doors held open by a cabin hook, why, especially on a cold day. The tables for two are also quite small. Our waitresses were engaging and very pleasant. The food did take a bit of time to arrive but no matter. When it did it looked nice enough apart from the beef that resembled a very well done minute steak, and therfore unsurprisingly on the tough side. The roast potatoes and veg were well cooked but there was only a quarter of a carrot and it seemed padded out with cheap greens. A large 'frozen' Yorkshire pud and a silly little pot of gravy (you will need more) finished the offering. When she collected the plated, we did tell the waitress about the beef but didn't want to make a big deal about it, surprisingly she said that another table had also complained, I love her honesty. The wife finished off with creme brulee, you can't go far wrong with one of those. The/a manager knew about the beef and was also apologetic which was reassuring. I then suggested they leave the doors as they were designed for but I got an unintelligible reason why they were open. Then I mentioned that there were at least a dozen tables that were not occupied all the time we were there, and were well away from the doors. When I suggested that these would have been more comfortable, she said that they was reserved but were 'no shows' which I found unlikely given the number of them. It's not cheap, it felt very corporate and feel it should have been better value...
Read moreFirstly, the food was delicious! I have visited many of your restaurants around the UK and have never had a bad meal. Sadly, on this occasion, your waitress let you down as she was inattentive.
We were seated at our time of 5:15 but wasn’t asked our drinks order for about 15/20 minutes. As it was near my birthday, I had a voucher from your app which I showed the waitress and after a big debate, was told that I couldn’t use it as it was a bank holiday. I appreciate that is written in your terms however is that not discriminating the fact of my birthday being near Easter? Very disappointing.
After finishing our food, the waitress left us for quite some time and in fact, I went up to ask for the pudding menu - we still had dirty dishes in front of us.
As it was now past 7pm and we had a concert to go to, we didn’t have time for the pudding. Again, we were left and not offered the bill. We proceeded to get up to go to the till and the manager actually called to us and said “bye thank you for coming!” We then told her we had not yet paid and wanted to pay. She took our payment and we left. Our initial waitress was too busy chatting on another table.
Now I appreciate at a busy time you might get left for a time but your restaurant was far from full. To arrive at 5:15, have one course and not leave until after 7pm, gives you an idea of the length of service!
As I say, beautiful food but your waiting staff let you down on this occasion.
Thank you for reading and hope this helps with improving the standard of your...
