Having been to this Haidilao three times now it's clear to me that they are passionate about getting things right. Having only opened in September/October 2021, they're working hard to meet the high standards expected from a Haidilao restaurant. On my first visit just days after the restaurant opened they pretty much met these expectations; although there were some nice touches missing like giving glasses wipes to spectacled guests and forgetting to sing happy birthday to my now wife, the waitress we had on this visit was incredibly attentive, preparing some of our dishes for us at our table, always making sure our glasses were filled, and generally being a great host. Overall, first visit was deserving of 4 out of five stars when compared to other Haidilao restaurants (but compared to other non-Haidilao restaurants it would have been 5 out of 5). My second visit was in December for my birthday, I took my family hoping to impress them with the service at Haidilao, but unfortunately the service during this visit was probably below average even when compared to other non-restaurants, so compared to other Haidilao restaurants it deserved a 2 out of 5... It would have been a 1 out of 5 if I hadn't enjoyed their singing happy birthday to me. Our glasses ran empty and the waitress stood by as each member of my family got up and helped ourselves to the jug of water one by one. This wouldn't happen in other Haidilao restaurants and in fact they'd insist that you let them fill your glass as part of the service. Dirty plates were left to pile up so there wasn't enough room. Also, and most importantly for me was that they were sold out of their hand pulled noodles, a signature dish of Haidilao. This wouldn't have been so bad of they'd called to let me know since I did have a reservation, I could have decided whether I still wanted to go or not... I almost walked out, I later wished I had. However, on my most recent visit today, they'd addressed all of my concerns from the previous visit and even started offering glasses wipes to the spectacled guests. Glasses were kept topped up, food was prepared at the table once more, dirty plates were taken away. The waitress (I believe her name was Sandra) went to great effort to make sure that everything was right with our meals. The friends that I went with this time brought their young baby with them and the restaurant even gave them gifts, something which I have seen in other Haidilao restaurants, so it's good to see this delightful service here in the UK too. This time the service was 5 out of 5, good, even for a Haidilao! I hope that the restaurant can keep this standard up, and deliver it consistently.

This is by far the best hot pot restaurant we have tried. Customer service is second to none! The staff treated us with the upmost respect & courtesy. You order via an iPad, seeing what the food looks like & totalling the price as you go so everything is transparent. We chose 4 broth flavours which gave us a great variety to compliment the array of meat, fish & veg we ordered. We went to town, ordering chicken, beef, lamb & fish, as well as vegetables & noodles. There’s a handy card on the table letting you know cook times & staff are always on hand to offer advice if needed. The meat & fish were all fresh & nice cuts. We chose lean meat options as we knew from previous experience that the spicy broths can be a bit oily. The cooking technique & time guidelines meant everything came out of the hot pot juicy & tender. Their sauce bar really takes this restaurant to the next level compared to others we have been to. You can create your own unique dipping sauces from a wide selection of wet and dry elements. This meant we were able to have a great assortment of flavours with each ‘round’ of cooking & it kept the meal interesting. The signature noodles are a showstopper, served with a dance as the chef stretches the dough in front of your table. They’re so much fun in terms of the theatre, but super delicious too. We also love the enoki mushrooms. We go for these every time & they never disappoint. The little touches at Haidilao elevate the entire experience; I was given a bobble to tier my hair back, staff topped up our drinks without us ever asking, we were given tasters of traditional treats, snack to take home, & the smart toilets are most definitely an experience! We are really looking forward to visiting again & being a bit more daring with our choices by trying some offal.

Haidilao is still the best place for hotpot! Plan for about 1.5 to 2.5 hours as hotpot is a slow paced social dining experience, best enjoyed with other people - though they do offer teddy bears if you decide to go yourself! Depending on how much you order it usually comes out pricier than other hotpot places in the UK, but it is worth it for the exceptional service, which I’ve found very consistent and similar to their restaurants in China (that have been popular for decades). Aprons are provided to keep your clothes clean, staff are very attentive throughout - topping up drinks and hotpot broth and bringing/clearing plates regularly - exactly how a hot pot place should be. This restaurant is very clean and comfortable, including bathrooms which are immaculate. The food is fresh and good quality, especially the meat, fish and veg. Also, you are able to pick up Chinese desserts like fruit, jelly and green bean soup at the counter, and dipping sauces/condiments for the hotpot that you can combine yourself to taste. For an interesting experience you can order the ‘noodle dance’, where a chef will come and hand pull noodles at your table. We celebrated a birthday with a meal here and our friends handed the staff a surprise cake beforehand. In true Haidilao style, the staff members brought the cake out near the end of our meal with birthday music and flashing signs, which we had a good laugh at. We’ve tried both the central London and Birmingham restaurants in the UK and both are excellent. The only downside is that you can end up queuing long for a table, therefore I’d recommend visiting the restaurants at off peak times if you can - we went on a weekday lunchtime to the Birmingham branch and the restaurant was quiet and we were seated immediately.

I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the exceptional service we received during our recent visit. A special shout-out goes to Siriu, who was clearly in the first few days on the job but handled everything with such grace, professionalism, and warmth. His service was truly remarkable, and it added a personal touch to our experience that we won’t forget. The service throughout the entire restaurant was impeccable. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and valued. Every staff member was attentive, ensuring we were comfortable and well taken care of. It’s not often you come across a place where the staff’s kindness and efficiency stand out as much as the food itself. Speaking of the food – it was incredibly fresh! You could tell the ingredients were of high quality, especially the vegetables, which were vibrant and full of flavor. Every bite was a testament to the care and thought that goes into the preparation, creating a truly authentic and memorable dining experience. What stood out the most, beyond the amazing food, was the customer service. It truly reflects the positive atmosphere and training behind the scenes. It’s clear that the team here values their guests and works together seamlessly to ensure a top-notch experience. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an extraordinary dining experience. It’s not just about the food (though it’s fantastic), it’s about the people and the environment they create, which will leave a lasting memory for me and my family. Thank you again to Siriu and the entire team for making our visit so special!

Our favourite hotpot place in Birmingham! Everything about this place is amazing, would definitely recommend. Firstly, the service is outstanding - the staff are very attentive and kind and will go out of their way to attend to any needs/issues you have with a smile on their face. Also, if it's your birthday, you can mention it to them and they'll sing you a song in either English or mandarin. The facilities are fantastic too - the washrooms are spotless, smell incredible (shoutout to Jo Malone incense) and even have heated seats on the toilets. They also provide complimentary snacks, toothpicks, mouthwash and other toiletries. It is very modern including a little automated delivery robot for the food - it feels a bit like a futuristic experience! Of course, the food is brilliant too. The prices are reasonable compared to other hotpot places, except the food tastes better! The lamb seasoned with cumin was a particular favourite of ours, as well as the seafood platter (shown in picture). Would also recommend to order their signature noodles which comes with a great performance too. Overall, top 3 East Asian eats in Birmingham and number 1 hotpot spot in our books.

I had the pleasure of dining at this hotpot restaurant recently, and I must say it exceeded my expectations on every level. The culinary adventure began with an impressive array of fresh and high-quality ingredients, allowing for a personalized and delicious hotpot experience. The selection of broths was equally outstanding, with each one boasting rich and nuanced flavors that complemented the ingredients perfectly. What truly set this place apart, however, was not just the delectable food but also the impeccable service. The staff demonstrated genuine warmth and attentiveness, ensuring that our dining experience was not only satisfying but also memorable. The cozy and inviting ambiance further contributed to the overall enjoyment of the meal, creating an atmosphere that encourages conversation and relaxation. In summary, this hotpot restaurant deserves nothing less than a five-star rating. It not only delivers an exceptional culinary experience but also excels in providing outstanding service and creating a welcoming environment for patrons. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a top-notch hotpot dining experience.
