Well ok I very rarely leave a review but this place is well worth a reputation!!! I've been in the UK from Brisbane Australia for nearly 3 weeks and I am a totally crazed coffee nut Chef! I travel widely when I'm not working experiencing new dishes and Foods and have begun to rate Cities I visit based on the quality of Coffee shops I find. I visited chester first on Thursday and heard from the locals about a new market food court with the "best coffee in Chester" and had to check this out. Well well well, I honestly thought Bath cafes could not be beaten but Bean and Cole is it people! Straight up the best Coffee this Chef has had not just in Chester but In the UK that I have visited. I don't wish to say its better than my favourite coffee shop in Brissy but I've only ever done 2 Public reviews and Bean&Cole has well and truly earned one! The coffee is Smooth flavourful and not one of the 5 I've bought today have been less than perfect. Their Avo Toast was superb as well. Can I also say the staff have been wonderful too and great to talk too.
To all Coffee nuts/snobs out there this little gem in the Chester markets and near the Cathedral is a must! So get among it guys, go hard and get your coffee on !!! And say G'day to the staff too theyre awesome 😁
10/10
I will make a point of stopping in again on my way back to London and fuel up for the drive. Peace y'all and God bless and good luck with this business
Take over the world one cup of coffee...
Read moreBean & Cole is a slightly pretentious and carefully curated “hipster” style cafe. Chester doesn’t really need yet another coffee shop but this doesn’t detract from its high quality, simple food. The menu is quite sparse but they have a good selection of specials and I feel that the lack of choice allows a greater attention to detail.
I would highly recommend the salmon on toast. It is perfectly seasoned and the toast has a delicious cream cheese spread. The coffee is really good too and there is often a selection of fresh pastries.
I would recommend Bean & Cole over any of the other homogeneous chains like Starbucks and Costa because of the fresh food and friendly staff. The only real downside, apart from my subjective opinion, is the dog friendly (positive) staff often stroke the dogs and neglect to wash their hands before touching plates and preparing coffees. It would be good to see better hygiene...
Read moreI was in town to check out the new Market and thought I'd drop into these guys' new unit in the market.
The girls working were all lovely and very polite.
The coffee tasted nice and was pleased to see that it came in biodegradable packaging.
What I would say is this... Firstly the coffee was cold. So many of these arty coffee shops feel using a thermometer looks bad but it doesn't. If you aren't qualified to hear the tone of the milk at temperature just use a thermometer. Nothing to be ashamed of for better coffee.
The other thing was the industry standard for a flat white is 8oz. I was given a flat white in a 6oz cup which is the size of a cortado. For £3 I would have expected at least the correct size.
Those two things let these guys down but was a nice tasting smooth coffee. Had gone before I walked out though as a consequence of...
