An awful experience. I’ve never had to write a review before yet I felt Belle Italia, Chester deserves one.
We have ate at other Bella Italias before and always enjoy the experience.
We walked into the Chester restaurant and I was initially a little surprised. The decore was dated and it was very cramped. We were greeted by a somewhat rude member of staff who explained they had no tables. She reluctantly booked us a table for an hour later. Upon returning for our booking we had to show ourself to the table. Which had not been set. Ten minutes later and we hadn’t even been given a menu or had our drinks order taken. We asked for a menu, again after a wait we asked for our food and drinks order to be taken.
My girlfriend ordered a butler fly chicken. What she got was half a tiny butterfly chicken that was over cook on the outside yet only just done on the inside. On a positive she enjoyed her fries! I had a cabanora. An easy to cook dish but still wasn’t good with great chunks of leeks in it and very little sauce.
We went for a middle of the road bottle of wine at £20. It tasted like a £3 bottle from the supermarket!
After again asking for menus and then asking to order our desert we had the cookie dough and chocolate orange brownie. These were very good.
We raised our concerns with the manger and he took the mains off of the bill. Yet we still feel £26 was expencive for what we actually enjoyed.
All in all the mains were horrendous, the service appalling and the place dated. A very disappointing experience. Avoid,...
Read moreAbsolutely awful experience, me my partner and our toddler attended here yesterday and it was just abysmal. first of all I was served a flat coke and the ice melted within minutes of it being on my table, the waitress was really awkward about it when I asked for a replacement. Secondly the food took absolutely ages to be served and I had a hangry toddler that was crying at this point because she was hungry, we waited nearly an hour for food to be served to us. The restaurant is rediculously small it’s hard to even move around in it. Thirdly I took my toddler to the bathroom to change her which is also stupidly small, hard to move about in and the baby changing table blocks one of the toilets and the other one was out of order so I had to rush changing her as people stared at me because I was in the way of the cubicle. Couldn’t be helped though really! What a stupid place to put a changing table. And finally my daughter trapped her fingers in the bathroom door and was crying her eyes out for not one staff member to ask me if she was okay, we sat on the restaurant floor for 10 minutes me and her both crying as it was very traumatic, my partner had asked the staff for ice for her hand and not one of them still asked if she was okay or what had happened, just completely ignored. I would honestly never go here again even if someone paid me to. Imagine having a restaurant and not knowing how to run it or even not be ignorant to ongoing...
Read moreWe sat outside, when we realised we wanted to move inside the server was more than happy to let us, we ordered the sharing starter which she also let us swap one of the items for something else, didn’t get her name but can’t fault her she was lovely. Long brown hair and very chatty. After our starter we must of waited about 40 minutes for our mains, our server hadn’t been around not sure if she went home/was on a break but nobody else attended to us. The food finally came out, I had spaghetti bolognese, considering it took so long to come out it was barely even warm, it was dry and lacked flavour, I don’t know if this restaurant batch makes the food and reheats it…my partner had spicy sausage pasta. He can handle spice but the level of spiciness on this pasta had him gagging and almost throwing up at the table, we’re not ones to complain but when another server brought us our bill we told her our issues, and she happily knocked a good chunk of the bill. I wouldn’t of wrote this review but we came 2 days ago, and last night onwards I have been throwing up and have been very unwell, I don’t want to blame this place but it is the only logical thing to have...
