Do you think you didn’t really do much for me it wasn’t anything special it wasn’t anything particularly fancy it was just okay. It was a lot of money for being okay I need a fruit scone and a half better. I can see it now. I’ve had a lot lot better in roughly the same type of place, it’s it’s a tea room but it isn’t it’s mint it’s jazz duck to be something that it isn’t. It’s more of a tea room not a café and I think they’re trying to judge it for a different market mall like a school canteen when you be rocked up, there was everything was very set out and very structured. Well not like a café should be and I think it looked like it was designed for massive volumes of people, but for me when we were there, it was two people not included in those sets for altogether so I don’t understand it completely

Read moreIf you're shopping Chester, or simply visiting, do drop into the Refectory Cafe. It is simply brilliant. (Forget Trip Advisor's unfairly downbeat 4* rating!!) And they really do need your money to keep everything going. The food is delicious and the portions are excellent. Their hot chocolate is probably the best I've ever tasted!! The prices are sensible and very reasonable for really good food. Okay, the surroundings are sparse (it is a cathedral after all!!) but the welcome is warm and politely enthusiastic and believe me - I have paid much, much more for a lot, lot less in other places. When we're in Chester, we make a point of going here - even just for coffee or tea because it is never heaving busy and the smiley welcome always puts a spring in our step and a smile in our hearts. Enjoy your visit!!...
Read moreReally disappointed, usually the café is perfect for value for money especially for children! HOWEVER what was once a great alternative to fast food chain's (my niece would rather go to the cathedral over McDonald's) has now become a bit of a rip off.... The children's meal deal was absolutely perfect for families who may not be able to afford many days out let alone meals out. What once consisted of a sandwich, crisps , drink and a yoghurt now is just a sandwich with of lettuce.... For the same price !!
As a Christian who champions ALL PEOPLE WELCOME to church, it's disappointing to see that what was once a reasonable offer for all become another isolating tool of...
