Frappato E Nerello
Our smooth frappato e nerello blend creates a beautiful harmony with the refined flavours of salame milano. This delicate wine offers a perfect balance of fruity and spicy notes, with rich red fruit flavours and refreshing medium acidity that complements the salami's subtle, well-seasoned character. The wine's smooth texture enhances the salame milano's nuanced flavours without overwhelming them, whilst the salami's gentle saltiness brings out the wine's natural fruitiness. It's a pairing that celebrates the italian art of combining quality ingredients - where both the robust sicilian wine and traditional charcuterie shine together.

Merlot
Our rich, dark merlot pairs magnificently with parmigiano reggiano - the king of italian cheeses. This intense wine brings bold, pronounced flavours that match the cheese's complex character, whilst its subtle sweet notes balance the parmigiano's natural saltiness. Merlot's smooth, low-tannin nature makes it wonderfully easy-drinking, allowing it to complement rather than compete with the cheese's rich, nutty flavours. Together, they create a classic italian pairing celebrating exceptional wine and artisanal cheese-making traditions.

Sangiovese
Our fun and juicy sangiovese brings vibrant fruity flavours that perfectly balance the rich fattiness of mortadella ducale, crafted following the same family recipe since the 1940s. This full-bodied wine with medium tannins holds its own beautifully against the meat's bold character, creating a harmonious pairing where neither overpowers the other. Sangiovese has quite the reputation in italy - it's the most widely grown grape in the country and even has exclusive growing rights in certain regions. Its natural food-friendly character and robust personality make it an ideal match for traditional italian charcuterie like our carefully selected mortadella.

My sister and I had the Trip to Sicily wine tasting experience bought for us as a birthday present. We'd never done anything like this before and weren't sure what to expect. We were greeted warmly by Nico when we arrived and shown to a table straight away. Nico explained that it would take about 20 minutes to prepare everything so we had a glass of delicious red wine and sat and people watched for a while. We were shown the wines we'd be tasting - two white, a rose and two red. After a short while a large wooden platter was brought to the table containing a selection of breads, cheeses and ham. It looked amazing. Nico returned with two glasses of white wine for us, explained how the wine was made, where it was from and what to choose from the board to accompany it. He then left us in peace to enjoy it - and enjoy it we did. He returned every 20 minutes or so with two more glasses of wine and more interesting information about the wine and more excellent advice on what to choose to accompany it. We finished off with a home made Tiramisu and a glass of slightly sweeter dessert wine. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable experience and we definitely recommend it. Our thanks to Nico, Victoria and Ellie

Great little wine bar in the heart of Chester. The service, from the moment we arrived, to the moment we left was exceptional. We were hungry so had a look at the food menu and at first thought it was quite overpriced, however the platter that came was huge and every single ingredient on it was the best that we had ever tasted. The best olives, the best cheese, the best meats, the best meat and the truffle honey dip is out of this world! It isn't a cheap day / afternoon / night out by any means but you most definitely get what you pay for. Great service, good wine and excellent food. The wines are all from the family's vineyard back in Italy and I have to say the wine was good.

My husband & I were celebrity our 1st wedding anniversary having got married in Chester . We chose to celebrate in Vino and it didn’t disappoint! From the moment we walked in Simon and the fabulous waitresses really looked after us . They kindly moved us from the table in the window as it was really sunny and warm! It’s such a lovely atmosphere I’m Vino and reminded us of our honeymoon in Lake Garda …. especially enjoying an Aperol Spritz & sharing board ! We’d like to say a massive thank you to Simon for making our visit so memorable. Can’t wait to go again !! Gail & Pete ( Sale , Cheshire )

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Our experience was genuinely disappointing from start to finish. We had a booking on Saturday at 18:15 after attending the races. We were a party of six—four arrived on time, and the other two joined us ten minutes later.

From the moment we arrived, things went downhill. We were seated upstairs in the furthest corner, and while waiting for our friends, our drinks order was taken. Oddly, our friends’ drinks arrived before ours, and when ours finally came, the glasses were half full of water from melted ice—clearly they'd been sitting out for a while.

Our waitress, a young girl, seemed completely unprepared. She attempted to take our order without a pen or paper, interrupted one of us mid-order to say she “might need a pen and paper" and then proceeded to write things down incorrectly, for example listing garlic bread as a starter instead of a main, after explicitly being asked for it to arrive with the mains. My partner and I ordered pasta arrabbiata with no olives (important later). After five of us had ordered, she asked “anything else?”—completely forgetting the sixth person. He ordered a pizza, which was out of stock, and was rushed into choosing something else. That should’ve been mentioned when we were seated.

At 19:00—45 minutes later—our starters arrived. While some of us were still eating, the waitress began collecting plates by constantly reaching over someone’s head whilst they were still eating!! When I apologised to my friend, the waitress responded with “It’s ok,” which felt dismissive. She then asked if we’d eaten our mains, not realising she’d only just served our starters.

By 19:35, we still hadn’t received our mains. We informed another waitress (wearing a grey jumper) that we had another booking at 20:00. She apologised and said she’d chase it up. We didn’t hear anything further, though she did bring us another round of drinks—replicating our original order. While a kind gesture, we’d have preferred for the drinks be removed from the bill rather than given drinks that we had no food to accompany them with!

She promised, “Next time you see me, I’ll have your food.” She then went downstairs, came back up and stood by the till for five minutes—empty promise. In this time, a male worker came up to the storage room which was next to our table, and took out 6 plates, which seemed like a huge coincidence and we now believe that they were our plates, so our food still had not been plated up at this point. The original waitress then returned with two bowls of olives, despite our request for no olives. I had to ask another staff member to double-check our arrabbiata wouldn’t include them.

At 19:45, mains finally began arriving—but sporadically. We couldn’t eat together as a group. Four of us were still waiting. When we asked for cutlery, and the waitress handed it over with a sarcastic “Enjoy.” How can you enjoy cutlery with no food?

When the final dishes arrived, the pasta sauce was hot but the pasta itself was freezing cold. It was now past 20:00. I told the waitress, who offered no solution. I explained I didn’t have time to wait another 45 minutes for a replacement.

We ate what we could and asked for the bill, already late for our next booking. The bill included an £18.88 service charge, which felt insulting given the poor service. We ignored several red flags throughout the evening and deeply regretted staying. We left hungry and disappointed.

I would avoid this restaurant if you're looking for an enjoyable meal in Chester...

An Unforgettable Experience Thanks to Ellie – A True Superstar!

My friend and I stopped in for what we thought would be just one last drink to cap off the evening—but thanks to Ellie, we ended up staying for several more, and had an unforgettable night. From the moment we sat down, Ellie was phenomenal. Her warm, bubbly personality and natural charm immediately put us at ease and completely transformed the atmosphere.

She’s not just friendly—she’s the kind of person who lights up a room and makes you feel like you’ve known her for years. Conversations with her flowed effortlessly, and you could tell she genuinely loves what she does. It’s rare to find someone with such a perfect balance of professionalism and genuine enthusiasm.

What really stood out, though, was her impressive knowledge of wine. Ellie made some fantastic recommendations, including one of the best Gavi’s I’ve ever had. She spoke about the wines with such confidence and clarity, guiding us through options we might never have picked ourselves—and every single one was a hit.

Whatever they’re paying this woman, it’s not enough. Ellie is an absolute gem—passionate, personable, and incredibly talented at what she does. Her presence elevated our entire evening and turned a quick stop into one of the highlights of our night.

We’ll definitely be coming back, and honestly, it’ll be to see Ellie just as much as for the drinks. If you’re lucky enough to be served by her, you’re in for a...
