One of the worst dining experiences I've had. We went here on a Thursday night, having arrived we were quite sceptical whether to even eat there as there was only 2 other people inside, whereas the turkish restaurant next door was jam packed. We sat down, and immediately we were challenged into getting the waiters attention, he was engaged in a conversation with his colleague. We ordered drinks and poppadoms before deciding on a chettinad meat platter for 2 and chilli paneer. We were served what seemed to be mini poppadoms with condiments, the mint sauce seemed like it was off, the pickle was ridiculously sour. This wasn't a good sign of what was to come.
The starters shortly arrived, and what we were given was truly shocking. As I'm from an Asian descent myself, I eat these sort of dishes regularly not just at home but at other restaurants. I honestly was given warmed up meat from god knows when. The chicken 65 was harder than a rock, hot on the outside, stone cold on the inside. The grilled chicken and lamb were so tough and definitely weren't fresh as they were not even piping hot. Absolutely lacking in any "indian" flavour. It honestly was like the ready meals from the supermarket. The chilli paneer had nothing chilli about it, it was given to us in a sweet and sour sauce. We then decided to complain after having less than 3 4 bites each to try the food.
The waiter acknowledged what was said then went to call the manager, who then arrived in a defensive manner. We explained to him the situation with the food, he then went onto talk about how people always come regularly, and that we must be wrong as only one dish could be wrong not all. He was talking about respecting food and wasting food, but clearly neither him or his chef have tasted what they are serving. The best thing he did was knock it off the bill after being told his reply was unacceptable and quite rude. I would say I'd give it a go again but honestly I don't think I'd return even if I was given the...
Read moreChettinad Restaurant - this is long overdue but finally got a chance to write this one .. I should say before I went there I had mixed reviews about the place but something told me .. I am still gonna try .. should I say that I wasn’t disappointed and me and my family were happy and totally in awe of the food and service at this place ... Firstly about the hotel and the location .. it’s located on the main road and if we can go up the road and towards the left .. we should get some empty spots for parking .. however there is no specific parking for them or in front of the hotel .. now in terms of ambience, it’s a lovely setup with ample seating .. lovely decor and has got a beautiful chettinad or South Indian touch to the whole place .. next in terms of service and the people in the restaurant are brilliant .. they took excellent care of the adults and the kids alike .. they also ensured that my daughter finished her meal by promising her an ice cream which she got once she finished the meal .. kudos to the staff who served us and can’t thank them enough for their courteousness and suggestions .. finally coming to the food and the cost .. the food was finger licking good and they ensured they explained where necessary and prepared the food according to our requirements. My kids and our family throughly enjoyed the food. And finally the cost even with 4 adults and 1 7 year old and toddler eating to our fill, we just managed to spend only around 75£ for the huge amount of food we stuffed ourselves with. I highly recommend this place for families and individual alike. Thanks for a wonderful lunch. Chettinad I will be visiting...
Read moreI recentlychettinad restaurant in leicester and I was thoroughly impressed by the experience. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the tone for an enjoyable evening. The decor is modern yet retains a traditional charm, making it a perfect setting for both casual and special occasions.
The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, catering to both meat lovers and vegetarians. I started with the vegetable samosas, which were crispy and packed with flavor. For the main course, I opted for the lamb biriyani. The lamb was tender and perfectly spiced.
The side of raita complemented the spicy dishes well, adding a refreshing balance to the meal. I also appreciated the variety of rice options available, allowing diners to customize their meals to their liking.
The service was exceptional. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, providing excellent recommendations. They were also accommodating to dietary restrictions, ensuring a pleasant dining experience for everyone at the table.
One of the standout features of chettinad is their commitment to using high-quality ingredients. This was evident in the taste and presentation of each dish. The portions were generous, making it great value for money.
Overall, chettinad restaurant exceeded my expectations. Whether you're a fan of Indian cuisine or trying it for the first time, this restaurant offers an authentic and delightful dining experience. I highly recommend it and will certainly be...
