Title: Unjustified Service Charge Ruins Dining Experience. I recently dined at Chettinad Restaurant and was disappointed to discover an unjustified service charge of £2.73 on my bill. The restaurant added a hefty service fee that seemed completely irrelevant to the quality of service provided. Please note no restaurants in the UK have such a policy for this kind of damn food. Why this service charge? For just serving food to the table?? I recently dined at Chettinad Restaurant and was disappointed to discover an unjustified service charge on my bill. The restaurant added a hefty service fee that seemed completely irrelevant to the quality of service provided. Not only did the staff fail to meet basic service standards, but the additional charge felt like a blatant attempt to exploit customers. The overall experience was marred by this unnecessary fee, overshadowing what could have been a pleasant dining experience. I strongly advise potential patrons to be cautious and thoroughly review their bills at Chettinad Restaurant to avoid being taken advantage of with unwarranted service charges. Never suggest this restaurant and if it continues will be moved legally. This will not be allowed in my country and remember it is not India.

Revising my review to 1 star from 4 star based on my recent experience. The booking was made for a group, a Birthday party day out. 7:30 pm Food order was taken at around 8pm and the starters were served roughly after 90minutes. I had to beg multiple members of staff for around 1 hour to get an empty glass to drink water. The air conditioner was not turned on, the place was suffocating and the air was not breathable. It was a fully occupied place. Aircon was turned on after an hour. I am thankful for that. The main dishes order was taken after 2 hours and by then all the guests were drained out with no energy left or mood to eat. Sadly there were 4 kids in our group who were left to starve. The restaurant was understaffed and the staff were clueless about what was going on. A couple of wrong dishes were served and we were left with no energy or time to return them. Bill was wrong and we had to correct it. We left between 22:45-23:00 Overall bad experience for the Birthday girl, her parents(hosts) and the guests. How can you treat your customers so badly? That too for an advanced booking? I have emailed the branch on Feb 6th and till date (4th Apr) I did not receive a response.

We paid £16 for this kerala thali which when described by the staff sounded like a fish thali but it came with no proper fish fry piece just a few fried small finger like fish which was not that great it came with no roti/puri to eat the vegetables provided Overall for £16 they can do much better…( I feel the staff could have made us very clear that there won’t be a proper fish piece or would have clearly mentioned the £16 price with all the items on the thali) Chicken 65 and rava masala dosa was good but stay away from the kerala thali I will add that the decor with bells and Indian touches gives u a great feel if u relate to India or south India Also, the slow rhythm flute music of famous Bollywood songs feels nice and compliments the place But food took ages to come (20 mins) Also a group of men chatting so loud really was interfering with our experience and they won’t stop at all but all in all a good experience 🙂

Definitely avoid! The atmosphere was bland though the service was good. The food however was horrible. 6 of us in the group each had the mix seafood and it was probably one persons fish which was chopped up into tiny bits and each person got two bits slightly bigger than the size of a dice. It was in the most watery curry and two minute squid rings and two tiger prawns. The biryani and kolli however were good but I’ve had better in more than enough Indian restaurants. We complained to the girl when she served the food and she said that’s how it is. The manager at the end of the day said we should have complained to him! Got a £20 voucher as a gesture of goodwill but they know we will never set foot in there ever again. The food was terrible!

Pics attached. VERY dissappointing. I paid £18.45 for the smallest quantities of food ever. Look at the pics. The Dosa is fine - nothing special, not much effort made here - but what was infuriating was the TINY amount of Sambhar i got in a small cup, literally 2 tablespoons full, which was almost like water in consistency - and what is maybe 1 tablespoon of chutney. I also ordered a lamb madras - and it was SHOCKING. ABout 8 smallest pieces of lamb, in curry which had Nothing to it, and tons of oil. Super oily, so oily i had to use about 5 tissues to drain the oil first. Never ordering from here again, at least at Santhi restaurant up the road they give you a decent amount of sambhar. What a massive dissapointment.

excellent location to try South Indian cuisine. I tasted their masala chai and kottu paratha. The masala chai was great. As expected, the kottu paratha was nice. I and two of my companions tried the lamb and chicken kottu paratha. The lamb was good; I would give it a 6.5/10, while for the chicken, a 5/10 will do. It wasn't a bad deal, but because I'm a Sri Lankan and our country has the best kottu paratha, this one felt unfamiliar and unauthentic. This wasn't quite as good as the delirious ones I've had in my home country, though. You may give it a try. The cost was very reasonable. Cost: 29.50 for 2 kottu parathas and 3 masala chais. It was an inspiring deal.
