Oh dear, where to begin? Shall we start with the people who don't know any better and have left good reviews because they can't tell what real curries taste like, so please take their reviews with a generous pinch of salt. My sister ate here about 5 years ago, and the food was nice. They had well-dressed waiting staff and a very likeable governor, and they were super busy and had very generous portions along with ample freebies. So, based on this, we decided to try it. From the moment we went in, we knew something was amiss. The place was empty, and someone eventually came out to "greet" us. He was wearing jogging bottoms and a hoodie. The christmas lights were looking sad (it's March), the carpet looked decades old, and the paintwork was shoddy. Anyway, it's all about the food, right? So we looked at the menu with slight trepidation. Decided to go with the set meal for 4. Out it came, in very tiny portions. Each starter had about 4 square inch pieces of meat, and it looked as though 1 very short kebab was cut into 2 pieces. We asked the "waiter" why there were only 3 samosas for a set meal for 4. His response - he shrugged and said yes, that's how many you get. Good job we had a maths teacher with us to help divvy up the 3 samosas between the 4 of us (although we did consider not giving the 10 year old child one but that would have been a little cruel). Customers started coming in, in dribs, and drabs. One family complained about their popadum sauces tasting off and were told that they could pay for their drinks and leave as they insiste their sauces are fresh. They had an elderly lady with them, and it was a rather shocking and rude response to their very polite critique of the sauce. So we contemplate whether itstoo late for us to up and leave in protest, but we soldiered on as we'd already had our starters. The mains were quite late and very disappointing. Lots of pasty processed sauce with a very small amount of meat, I'd say about 5 pieces. The potatoes and mushrooms tasted and looked like they were out of a tin. Turns out, the previous owner (a lovely generous gentleman) had passed away, and left the business to his son who likes to cut corners, scrimping here and there, affecting the value and taste just to keep his costs down and keep his profits up because the people who don't know what real curry is supposed to taste like will carry on frequenting this joke of a place. Kanjoose is the word we asians use for people like that. An insult to the original owners legacy. Thankfully, we didn't have any tummy troubles. The highlight of the meal was the cadbury's eclaire you see in the pic. Let's just say that the food didn't look very instagrammable.

Wow, I wasn't expecting that. Like most of us theses days I've probably eaten thousands of Indian/Bangladeshi meals most of which I've enjoyed; but the Nawaaz Restaurant delivers the experience in a completely different way which makes it a really lovely and authentic experience. The food is very very good, looks to be made on the premises. We had about 8 waiters serving us all at the same time, when the food is ready it's served altogether, the table is empty one serving and full, over full the next. There were 4 of is eating, we ordered 5 starter's the extra one as our neighbouring table ordered it and it both looked and smelt amazing so we had to order one. We then ordered for main meals. We'll give arrived along with four complementary side dishes and a beautiful salad. We asked for wine 🍷 and were asked red or white, we went for white as us bloke's were beer, bless them they went out and up the road to Sainsburys to buy a bottle of wine for us and only charged us what it cost. This is a fabulous business where the customer comes first. The service is authentically Indian, friendly, with a smile and by people who really really want you to have a great experience. The food is great, no, it's better than great its real, it's not all lardy de dar, it's rustic and lovely. Buy your wine before you go, but go.

Went here at around 10.30 on a Saturday night, quite busy given that they close at 12. We were given popadoms and a portion of onion bhajis on the house. The pakoras (onion bhajis) were very tasty, quite a large portion too. For mains we ordered bindi, chicken tikka bhuna masala, nan bread and one pilau and one mushroom rice. We were also given complimentary saag aloo, tadka daal and tandoori chicken. The food was fantastic, I actually ordered the wrong dish I wanted a creamy dish (tikka masala) but a bhuna is definately now an option I would also order. I liked all the dishes, in particular the chicken tikka bhuna masala it was full of flavour but it also had a bit of a spicy kick. To finish the meal we were served free fruit (melon and oranges) and then ice cream. There were lots of waiters in the restaurant and it actually meant the service was brilliant. It was great to the point that I felt like a regular loyal customer (even though it is the first time I have eaten here). The way the staff treat you makes you genuinely happy and positive that you are a customer here.

me and my partner decided to book a table here for valentines after carefully looking at the online reviews for Indian restaurants in Leicester and this looked one to be one of the best. Our experience did not reflect the overall positive reviews other people made at all. We booked a table and got there and had to wait quite a while for a table. When a table became free they seated us on it before it was even prepared. We ordered our food and all of the food tasted extremely bland, the Bombay potatoes looked like plain boiled potatoes covered in a strange tasting sauce, the garlic naan bread tasted as if it was brought from a supermarket. I didn’t even finish my plateful of food because I just simply didn’t want to eat it, the more I ate the worse it got. We tried to get the attention of members of staff as we weren’t satisfied by the food at all and wanted to say this but they did not even look over to us once despite me even waving my hand at one point, it was as if we were shoved to the side and completely forgotten about compared to other customers. We left so much food because no one came over to us to ask how it was. I complained to 3 different people who all seemed to not care at all and just said they’d go get someone else. I explained I wasn’t happy to the food or the service and how no one even looked at us once so we couldn’t even complain about the food. The only measurement they took was to offer us another curry, which obviously we didn’t want at that point. After finishing the small amount of food we ate, we were left waiting for someone to clear the table (after I asked them to get the bill finally) for 30 minutes. The staff weren’t sympathetic at all and didn’t offer any sort of refund, I had to physically say I’m not happy to pay the whole bill considering the food was bland and we ate barely any of it, and the service was so bad we couldn’t even complain about it at the time. Even then they didn’t want to give us any discount which is ridiculous - we left most of the food. We then had to wait a further 20 minutes after asking for the bill. Me and my partner sat there extremely shocked at how bad the whole experience was compared to the reviews, it’s safe to say we will not...

These guys know how to woo you and get you to come back for more! Went here before a gig at de Montfort hall so pretty early but the place filled up fast yet nothing took too long.

We were a group of 7 that arrived in dribs and drabs and they brought out some poppadoms and some potato hash bites type dish for the early arrivals, all free of charge.

It's also BYOB and they are very chill with it, they clear away the empties and provide a bottle opener on the table, so not awkward at all.

One of my friends had been before and was basically able to order vegetarian ala cart, he asked for an aubergine and mushroom dish and they just whipped it up for him, it wasn't on the menu. The rest of us had some standard fare and it was great.

Then they brought out even more complimentary food, a plate of sizzling chicken thighs, some aloo chat and some mushroom dish I don't remember. Not everyone ordered rice with their main but they still gave everyone a small mixed rice plate. Finally we didn't order any dessert but they brought out some cheap vanilla ice cream which was nice.

At this point you must be thinking they're cutting corners somewhere... Well the decor isn't modern, or even this my lifetime, but who really cares. The atmosphere and service is amazing for the price of the food. One more area where they aren't cutting corners... They send your cheque out with bonafide Foxes glacier mints! What more can you ask for?!

I was going to say they didn't pay me for this review, but I guess they did with all the free stuff they gave me....
