Absolute shocking service. Being a well known establishment you would think their customer service and products would be on point - not the case at all at the Leicester franchise. A few weeks ago, i had just finished a lovely dinner with my family at the amazing Oggi restaurant and thought it would be nice to end the evening with some dessert at B&R. We wanted to order a variety of items on the menu, one being crepes. We were told by the manager on duty that “if you want crepes go to Heavenly Dessert”. At first I thought he was joking and asked again but was told “it takes too long to make, if you want crepes go to heavenly dessert”. There was no else in the store and we were more than happy to wait but he refused to make it. His demeanour was disgusting and shocked that this was the service B&R provided. I thought he was having a bad day so we all left without ordering any dessert and went elsewhere.
Again, the same experience happened today. No one else was in the store, I was more than happy to wait but nope, I was told “if you want crepes then go to heavenly dessert”. If you are not going to serve an item from your menu, then I would suggest you remove it completely to avoid dissatisfied customers. My wife contacted the branch on Friday to enquire about buying a cake for a birthday on Monday evening, 18th Dec. This was after having had an email go unanswered for 2 weeks prior. She was told that for her needs, it would be best to arrive by opening on Monday 18th Dec, with opening being stated on the phone (and online) as 4pm.
My wife arrived at 4pm having also collected and travelled with our 3 kids (5,3 and 1) for 45 mins to do so.
The shop was closed, locked up. No lights on, closed sign showing and no response to constant knocking on door until 4.15pm. During this time, she tried calling the number listed online on their page - a message said ‘this number is not recognised’. She then found a mobile number listed for it from the Google listing. This number rang out to a message saying the call cannot be taken right now.
After 20 mins of this and 3 upset kids, she had to return home, this time for close to an hour due to rush hour.
Birthday cake plan ruined. Kids very upset.
To make it worse, my wife called this evening to check if they were even open at all and to feedback on what happened, only to be insistently told they were open, thereby inferring her to be lying. This is very insulting.

Read moreBefore I review the products I must say the customer service was a lot better than other places I visit. It's not often you see a manager engaging with the customer and taking their time to recommend a product according to my tastes, despite it being relatively busy. Other staff were also friendly and polite.
As it was my first time and I wanted to try different flavours the manager recommended the Lucky 8 - it is eight mini scoops of your choice in a freshly baked waffle cone. There are such a variety of flavours to choose from and I have to say every flavour I picked was awesome. The freshly baked waffle cone was also very tasty and different to what you get at other places.
I also wanted to take away a freshpack on my second visit once I got to know the flavours better, and the manager was kind to inform me that if I came in on a Tuesday for a fresh pack I would get 20% off. Definitely an honest business.
