The image of the flat bread serve does not do it justice. Falafel and hummus with salad in, served with chips and coleslaw. My fridn bought the meat lasagna and the cheesy garlic bread. We could not believe how amazing the food was. All so fresh. Staff are great, very helpful and tidy. Work well on their own and together. The area is a polite part of Hull, you're sitting along the Dock where the fishermen used to come in and anchor down. The museum viewing out onto the dock has a window where the "head guy" so to speak would sit, at the window, watching the boats coming in. (Do not judge me on the word head guy haha history is not the reason I am here 😂). I'm not sure about the men's toilets, but the walk to the ladies is very nice. Mcoys building itself is very prehistoric. This area helps make Hull beautiful again.

We've eaten here quite a few times, quite busy, a historic and popular place with views over Princes Quay. Also an outside (with heaters) seating next to the Quay. Nice sharing and individual plates. Lovely range of hot, cold, soft and alcoholic drinks. Went for my birthday with family and were given a window seat so we could watch part of the Hull Art installation Light Show (see photos). Child and autistic friendly. Veggies, Vegans and Carnivores - all catered for! Accessibility - this is a historical building and so mixed, there is a small seated area on the ground floor, a few steps in and to the loos. Car Park - the nearest is a pay across in Princes Quays Staff - work hard, friendly and professional Toilets - up a few steps and along corridors

I haven’t been to McCoys for about 7 years as I used to find the service was slow and the food wasn’t worth the money, but I visited today and was really pleasantly surprised. The menu has improved so much and is really varied, and the service was excellent. We were in quite a big group and several people ordered burgers which we were told would take some time but everything arrived quickly! Prices are still quite high for a lunch time cafe kind of vibe, but the food is excellent and the portions are huge so very much justified. I won’t leave it so long to visit again next time :)

Myself and 2 friends visited on Saturday 28th January 10am for breakfast. I ordered a breakfast ciabatta as did one of my friends (I specifically said NO tomato on the order) however the other friend ordered a full English breakfast with TINNED tomatoes not a full sliced tomato. Orders are all on the app and emailed to us, this clearly stated our orders. Table 22.

10 minutes later we had 1 full English breakfast arrive so my friend assumed this was hers, however it had a full tomato on, not TINNED tomato like she asked for. She mentioned this to the waiter who then PICKED THIS UP OFF HER PLATE WITH HIS BARE HANDS!!!! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!! And just threw this on the tray which the drinks arrived on. Didn't take the plate away and remove this with tongs, didn't think to use another plate to take this away on... absolutely god smacked at this.

Then 2 more full English breakfasts arrived, however we had ordered 2 breakfast ciabattas. We showed our order to the waiter. He then took ALL 3 full English breakfasts away and realised he had served them onto the wrong table.. he PUT BACK THE FULL TOMATO (picked this up from the tray) on the plate with his BARE hands again and took them down stairs to another table and actually served these 3 breakfasts up to another table. MORTIFIED. Makes me wonder had my food been taken to someone else prior to me?

Then finally our correct orders arrived however I had tomato IN my Ciabatta which I specifically asked NOT to be in as per my order on the app.

WHY are your staff using their mucky dirty fingers on our food? This is absolutely outrageous and quite frankly disgusting.

Certainly will NOT be dining here again. The whole experience made my stomach turn.

We had already paid and was in a huge rush to be at an appointment for 11am. Did not have the time to complain raise this, also there was no staff to be seen when we left also.

Your staff NEED hygiene...

I had a phenomenal experience here last week! Popped in for brunch on a Sunday and the service was truly amazing. A lovely guy called Alfie looked after us. I was enquiring about any vegan options and Alfie was so patient and kind, he went out of his way to arrange for the vegetarian breakfast to be made vegan. I asked if it was possible to turn the music down upstairs as I have hearing loss and expected it to be a bit of a hassle, Alfie was an angel and acted like it was no big deal at all and very quickly resolved this.

Alfie was just the most friendly, sweet and helpful guy, nothing was too much trouble for him to help us with, and he came across as a really genuine person that takes the time to treat all customers like they're friends, he created such a welcoming vibe and I felt really at ease even though I'm a bit awkward with my hearing! It was the best service I've had in a long time, and if Alfie isn't a manager he definitely deserves a raise, he made us want to come back again and again.

The only slight suggestion I have, separate to anything practical, is for the menu to outline vegan options. I used to come in many years ago and they always had vegan options noted on the menu. There wasn't anything stated as vegan on the menu and the veggie breakfast had to be modified rather than being able to order a vegan breakfast. If I hadn't been planning to meet my friend there I might have been put off and assumed vegans weren't really provided for. It would go a long way just having a few options on the menu or noting what is vegan. Simple stuff like a vegan fry up (hash browns, beans, tomatoes, toast with vegan margarine, mushrooms, vegan sausages), avocado on toast, beans on toast.

Regardless, we'd definitely be back as it was the best service we've had in Hull! Thanks Alfie....

This place used to be the hub for afternoon coffee in Hull, but recently its just dead.

It seems to have moved into food but lost the coffee trade. Its easy to see why, the house coffee still remains in 2000, a very cardboard blend with absolutely no depth - in fact Mcdonalds brew tastes better.

Its frustrating that Mcoys could position itself to be a classy coffee lounge that Hull badly needs - the decor is lovely and staff amazing - but the product lets its down.

I would encourage owner/management that when the place is empty (as it appears often now), to play some quiet music as it feels like library in the upper floors.

The menu is geared to mealtimes and not welcoming to coffee/cake patronage - I'm not sure why there are no afternoon combination deals? Cakes and bakes are hidden away in desserts. If this is limitation in the ordering software, then maybe change it? Perhaps this is not the market you are aiming for, but then the place is so dead anyway. The menu does not welcome those popping in for coffee, chat and snacks. In fact there appears to be no effort in the menu to attract patronage outside of mealtimes at all!

I would also encourage management to visit places like three gingers that have upped the coffee quality to be more representative of what people expect today. We don't need another trendy place, the current staff and decor looks great - A bit more wow is needed in the product especially when charging premium prices - driving to and parking in the centre is such a pain, people who can afford these prices wont visit...
