Rays Balti — Restaurant in England

On christmas eve after picking my other half up from work we ended up driving past this little old restaurant after looking for somwhere to eat that was still open at 9pm. Anyway we turned around and ended up seeing if they were still serving (which they were amazingly!) we placed our order and waited about 10 minuits for our food, while we waited we pondered on what we should expect and new it would be either horrible or amazing, well gladly it ended up being the best indian food we have ever had!! the owner is great and down to earth and the price was unreal at well under £30! and i never ever tip places, but considering it was christmas eve and the experience was brilliant i made an exception, dont let the bad reviews put you off, its not the fanciest looking place in the world but id rather the owner concentrate on making good food than having a facny mural on the wall or serving on chopping board 😂...

We came here as it was recommended to us by family. The decor was very nice and the service was very good i couldnt fault it. There was some items on the menu that wasnt available but that was ok. The poppadoms and pickle tray was very nice and tasty but the rest of the food was dreadful to say the least. Everything was bland and not tasty at all. Biryani both on the bone and off were flavourless and the veg curry that it came with it didnt make it better. Other food was oily and the chipati was dry. Portion sizes where ok but the price didnt really match the quality of the food. Also the venue is cash only. I do like the concept of bring your own bottle that was different and nice. I went with my partner last night. Ordered two normal Currys a naan to share, a coke and a small beer. A bill of over £30. Nothing is really itemised and everything is confusing. The food was nothing special but nothing wrong either. I won't be recommending it as knowing the price in Restaurants and I know we were well over charged for what we got. My partner paid the bill as he always does, because he just says just vote with your custom, there's plenty of choice out there. I was very annoyed though, and so much wanted to say something.
