I know we've got bigger things to worry about at the moment, but I have managed to reserve a little bit of my anxiety for hoping that The Battle of Trafalgar will be pulling pints mere moments after Boris has shouted 'Lockdown over!' from his bedroom window. I love this pub. I love everything about it, from the absence of TV screens, to the warmth and professionalism of the staff, to the big comfy seats, to the absolutely cracking food. It's a Harvey's pub and a good one at that. It's unpretentious but not old fashioned; it's cosy but clean. The Battle is a lovely example of the 'unreconstructed boozer', of which there are fewer every year, sadly. Another little bonus for me is that the pub allows considerate vaping. A recent petition against a chain buying out the pub to build a sports bar was loud enough for the chain to decide it wouldn't bother.    Read moreAVOID IF YOU ARE âYOUNGâ Went here for a rare Saturday night off with a couple friends, at first had a nice atmosphere as wasnât overly busy, bought quite a few drinks between us, played about 6 games of pool, one of us bought another pint and went to sit down for 5 mins as someone else wanted a game when some woman approached us literally as we sat down and told us âthis isnât a youth club, if your not buying a drink then you need to leaveââŠ. We are all over 25..    Read moreI have been to the battle of Trafalgar a number of times with work for lunch. The pub itself is well looked after, clean and has a solid sense of style. The pub garden while not being tiny can be difficult to get into at times, it a great little space with plenty of seating. There is always a great selection of drinks including guest ales which go down well. The menu is very nice and varied with the normal menu items and some lovely specials which are great. Being that we come here for our lunch break it's nice to find somewhere that can serve you food with plenty of time to eat it. The staff at the Battle of Trafalgar are all ways presented well, very polite and happy to have a chat and a joke you customers. Keep up the...
