You just have to try this place, the Bao Buns are amazing, and especially the soft-shell crab one but all are excellent.
Staff are knowledgeable and friendly although we were told just after we finished our meal that the table was needed in 10 minutes (we had only been there maybe 30/40 mins) as it happens we were moving on anyway but had we decided to settle there for a little while that would have put me off a bit. It just doesn’t give the right message out, if we had been there 2 hours and not buying anything I would understand but we had not even been there an hour.
Good selection of drinks on the menu and some excellent craft beers too
Great place would certainly like to go again and hopefully not be told that my table is needed so I can spend longer there
4 Bao Buns 1 korean chicken 2 x 2/3 beers 2 x gin's and 1 tonic was £51.75 which I thought just about the right price
They DO NOT add service charge to the bill (least not on my visit) which is...

Tucked just off the beaten track, The Pond is a Brighton gem that radiates character. Quaint and slightly hidden, it has a warm, cosy interior that instantly feels welcoming, but on sunny days, the compact terrace is a real treat. We were lucky enough to catch the sunshine and enjoy both vibes.
The craft beer selection is excellent, clearly curated with care. When we arrived around 3pm, it was quiet and we were served quickly by genuinely friendly and knowledgeable staff. Even as the place filled up later in the day, the service stayed slick and upbeat, a rare feat.
Now let’s talk about the food. Wow. The satay chips and crispy chicken bao bun weren’t just good, they were flavour firecrackers. Genuinely unforgettable. I would go, and go again… and then go again.
Brighton has a lot to offer, but The Pond punches well above its weight. A true jewel in the...
Read morePopped in for lunch and a drink on a Saturday - booking is essential if you want a table, we arrived as walk-ins pretty much as soon as the place opened and within about 15 minutes it was at full capacity!! The Pond is a groovy and inviting pub with its own delicious pale ale (Pond Water) and bao buns to die for. There is a good selection of other beers on tap, but Pond Water is exceptionally good and worth a try - the beers can also be served in quirky 2/3rd pints which feels like the perfect amount to me!! The service was quick and friendly, and the food was at our table minutes after ordering. I really enjoyed the mushroom bulgogi bao bun, and tried some other sharers and sides too - the fried mushrooms and loaded chips were excellent, however the kimchi I ordered was almost unbearably salty and I had to leave most of it. If it wasn’t for the disappointing kimchi, this would easily be a...
