Turned up at 12pm to a closed pub no sign of anything going on, eventually at 12:10 the doors opened and when I walked in was told by the lad working there that they weren’t open, I asked if they were opening and he begrudgingly said in about 40 mins hopefully. I asked if they were doing food and if we could reserve a table when they did eventually open. When we returned there was a reservation made but when ordering drinks the guy behind the bar was very pessimistic, and unhelpful. We got our drinks which wasn’t too great after only 1 of 6 beers were on, then sat to look at the menu where we were finally told by a helpful staff member that they didn’t have much of the food options left. She came back and said there was only 2 or 3 options of pie left, none being vegetarian which half our party are…so we had to finish up and leave. I don’t see why the bar staff couldn’t have told us on reserving, or ordering drinks that there was limited food, there was no one else in the pub at all. Read moreI had the pleasure of visiting Royal Standard and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was inviting and cozy. The decor is trendy and modern, creating a perfect setting for a night out with friends.
The bartender was knowledgeable and friendly, and even recommended a few drinks that suited my taste preferences. I also enjoyed the variety of beers on tap, as well as the selection of wines.
In addition to the great drinks, the food was exceptional.

Read moreHad pie,mash and liquor in there with my friend,had to buy four extra liquors because the liquors only come out in a very small gravy jug so it ended up being quite costly. I would’ve gone back there if it wasn’t for that but I’m not spending loads of money on liquor when you don’t get enough when it’s served. All the chef kept saying was have as much liquor as you like, there’s plenty of it.
