GAIL's Bakery Brighton — Restaurant in Great Britain

I once left a 5* review, and held Gails in high regard, however, I have since been back several times and been disappointed each visit, so I encourage anyone considering treating themselves to a Gails to just spend their money elsewhere

Staff seem disinterested and as though you have somehow annoyed them by ordering. Each time I have tried to order a bagel with strawberry jam they say it's unavailable... it shouldnt be on the menu if it's out of stock more often than not? The staff do seem to check with the chef however again make us seem like an inconvenience, and have no sense of urgency. They then offer us no alternatives to keep our custom, showing very little customer service.

On another occasion, I ordered a pot of tea, waited for my name to be called, as I approached the counter I found a takeaway cup of tea. I stood there trying to catch the staff's attention however they were too busy chatting to each other, I caught one person's eye however they didn't make any effort to stop their conversation. Once I told them my issue, there was no response, let alone apology, it was like I bothered them.

On another occasion we visited at lunch time and ordered two pots of teas, and tried to order food from the menu, only to be told the chef was on a break... at lunch time

OMG. First proper day out to the sea side since being discharged from hospital after being in for 10 months with Covid. We came to this bakers on the off chance as we just parked up round the corner. My tastebuds have not been right but we ordered cinnamon buns. My goodness I could definitely taste this product that was baked at the shop. Not only was it huge, it was so gorgeous. It’s sent my tastebuds jumping. I have not tasted proper food for such a long time and this was absolutely exquisite. I know this is sad but I nearly cried. And I wanted more!!!

It makes me want to make my husband drive all the way from Sidcup to Brighton just so I can get a stash. I absolutely loved them and could not get enough. Thank you guys for also accommodating me in my wheelchair and I enjoyed the visit and I will definitely look you guys up again when we come to visit my favourite place 😋 How I did not find you before I do not know but I will never forget...

In my house, my family loves gails, the food and bread, biscuits we even have your book, believe me we tried almost everything but lately your staff keep letting us down. There someone there so rude so rude, every time I ask for something she just throws in the counter and last time she putting half of my croissant in the counter on top of the card machine in Covid times, asked for a bag she just gave me a open bag, not even thanks us, it really seems like we are not welcome there. I forgave her for twice forgetting to put some of the things I ordered in my bag and that I paid for, I never ever complained because those things can happen in a busy place but she is so rude that we are simply feed up with that. It’s a real shame, but I won’t accept anymore, everything is so good that a little effort, thanking, care would make the difference, just learn with gails Hove, that’s great service.
