I went to Nando's on Duke Street in Brighton on Saturday 6th January. It was very busy but we were seated quite quickly which was great! Most of the staff where lovely and friendly. Now for the bad news. I was enjoying my main course which was chicken thighs with rice and chips, when I felt something strange in my mouth.. so disgusting.. I pulled out which looked and felt EXACTLY like a finger nail!!!!! I almost threw up with disgust and as this happened a waitress came over to check how our meals where.. obviously I showed the waitress the finger nail and she was so shocked and extremely embarrassed. She informed me that she would get the manager right away. The manager comes over. No apology just questions me about the nail and says she thinks it must have come from the rice which is brought into the kitchen so it's not their fault. She also tells me that she will give me a re fund for my main course only, even tho everyone on our table was completely put off their food by this point. We then had to sit and wait for around 15 minutes until she came back when really we just wanted to get out of there. She gave me the cash refund for my main course and also a free voucher for the same main course. Although she didn't tell me that it would only be valid at that Nando's restaurant when I live in London and was only visiting.. still no apology and I was told I would be contacted...
Read moreThe food quality at Nando’s Brighton is generally good, with the flame-grilled peri-peri chicken being the standout item. The chicken is marinated for 24 hours, ensuring deep flavor, and is then grilled to order, giving it a smoky, slightly charred taste. Customers appreciate the juiciness and tenderness of the meat, though some have noted occasional inconsistencies in portion sizes and cooking.
The peri-peri spice levels range from mild to extra hot, allowing diners to customize their meals. The extra hot sauce delivers a fiery kick, while the lemon & herb option is milder yet flavorful. Many visitors enjoy experimenting with the wide selection of sauces available at the self-serve station.
Sides like the peri-salted fries, spicy rice, and garlic bread are popular, with the fries being crispy and well-seasoned. The macho peas and coleslaw provide fresh, balanced options to complement the spicy chicken. However, some reviews mention that sides can sometimes arrive lukewarm or slightly underwhelming compared to the main dishes.
The vegetarian and plant-based options, such as the Beanie Burger and Spiced Chickpea Wrap, are well-received, offering flavorful alternatives to meat dishes.
Overall, Nando’s Brighton delivers flavorful, well-marinated chicken with a variety of sides, though consistency in portion sizes and temperature could...
Read moreThe service was fast, the food was good, I tried ordering using the app for the first time and it worked, so in general everything was good. But nobody came to check if the food was OK after serving. I mean, it was OK, but that's not the point. It's Nando's tradition for waiters to come part way through the meal, check if everything is OK, and take the little stick with a cockerel on top. But they didn't. And it wasn't busy, so they could have. A little more personal attention and I would have given 5 stars.
Edit: I came back 2 days later, hoping to improve my review to 5 stars, but unfortunately I could not do that. The waitress came to check on my food again, which would have improved service to 5 stars, but she brought my main course out while I was clearly a long way from finishing my starter. I don't like my food getting cold, so minus 1 star again. The waitress took the food away and brought it back when I was ready, but I thought that having a main course after the starter was the whole point. Also, the chicken was very burnt, so I had to remove another star from the food. It wasn't burnt 2 days ago, so I can't say that it happens every time, but I likewise can't say that the food...
