I've been to this place a total of four times. The first three times, I went alone for a couple of drinks after dinner. Those times, my waiter was a polite, friendly Australian guy. He was attentive and it was painless to have a couple of relaxing drinks, pay up, and head home. The drinks themselves were fine, and the happy hour prices were reasonable, so I figured I'd bring a flatmate here recently. Sadly, the woman who provided table service this time made for an unpleasant and baffling experience.
My friend and I arrived 100% sober and were amiable and well-behaved, but right from the get-go she was very rude and cold to us. My friend does not drink often and does not know much about cocktails, so he simply asked her what she'd recommend, since their menu is huge. She couldn't even be bothered to talk to him about what they had, didn't ask him what sort of liquors he likes, what kind of flavors he liked... nothing. She seemed very impatient and told him to flip to the next page, then just rudely pointed at something wordlessly. I thought it was very strange.
We stayed for a few drinks and each time our glasses were emptied we'd have to go out of our way to get her attention while she sat at the table behind us and talked to her friend. It felt like I was begging someone to do a favor for me each time I needed my drink filled, which is not what I look for when I'm spending money at a bar/restaurant. Even the last round of drinks, as I ordered I said I also wanted the bill. She only brought the drinks, then sat down with her friend again and ignored my friend when he tried to get her attention (we were literally sat at the next table, so I know she could see us).
The experience left a bitter taste in my mouth, and it wasn't from the alcohol! I was left feeling a bit embarrassed that I'd asked my friend to go there with me and spend his money. I understand that sometimes people have bad days, but it's not unreasonable to expect a modicum of kindness and professionalism when I go out to drop £30 on food or drink. I doubt...
Read moreI'd heard a few people reccommend this place & as a huge cocktail fan, was excited to visit & had high expectations but sorry to say we did not have a great experience here. I walked in & asked if there was a table for 2 & was told there was one upstairs so went to sit at it. It was covered in drink from the previous customers but the menu was then placed in the puddle & the table not cleaned. The server was clearly rushed & was the only person tending to all the tables so it felt they were severely understaffed. We ordered 2 cocktails which tasted incredibly watery & were really bad to be honest. The lighting was horrendous- Bright white ceiling spotlights which gave the whole place a scruffy feeling with zero ambience. The bathrooms were also really grotty (and down 2 floors which wasn't ideal) & had the dirtiest hand dryer...
Read moreHad a lovely evening at their sister restaurant The Twisted Lemon.
Asked them where we could go for a late night venue and they sent us there.
As soon as we walked in the staff asked us where we'd been and how much we'd had to drink.
I joked "too much" and was instantly told we had to leave. Tried to explain we had been at their sister restaurant who had sent us to them but they didn't care. As I was speaking to the guy behind the bar one of their waitresses kept interrupting to ask where my accent was from.
Abysmal customer service. Avoid them...
