This is going to be a tough review to write because I’m going to run out of superlatives. Very clean, with a lovely atmosphere, decor and effortless Italian design. Menu - clear uncomplicated and the right length to make it a difficult decision. Specials board which actually has some decent extra temptations. Pizza is done very well here, and if you can’t eat the lot in one sitting you can get the rest boxed to go. Where Calamari is on the menu I always order and this was amazing, very well cooked, not at all greasy and beautiful mayo dip accompaniment…not too heavy as a starter. Main the seafood risotto again wonderfully cooked good flavours of tomato and seafood, and clams in shell!!! If I’m going to nit pick I would have liked a king prawn or two but really that’s just me being greedy. And now pudding - had to be tiramisù obviously and I give this star of the show- presentation, portion size and flavour…..just the very best I’m obsessed. Service - perfection (shout out to Ali) appropriately attentive, fun and warm. Beyond being excellent in all things, service, quality food, value for money and a lovely atmosphere, I love the thoughtful touches eg umbrellas at the door. I will have to go back if for no other reason than to check that tiramisu wasnt just a fluke. Highly recommended and my new...
Read moreVisited Lucianos a couple of weeks ago while staying in the area and the whole experience was incredibly disappointing. Arrived on time for our reservation but had to wait around a while for our table despite the restaurant being quite quiet. First impression of the menu was poor. As soon as I saw the description next to the carbonara - which described the dish as bacon in a creamy parmesan sauce - I realised this was not an authentic Italian restaurant at all. Anyone who has ever made an authentic carbonara knows it’s a 4 ingredient dish ( egg yolks , pecorino, black pepper and guanciale), but I assume the restaurant used cheaper alternatives as a cost cutting measure. Both my partner and I’s starters were poor. The calamari was tasteless and had an odd texture, and my salmon on crusty bread consisted of 2 small pieces of bread topped with 90% chopped tomatoes and a sprinkle of salmon. The aperol spritz I ordered did not taste like it was made to the correct ratio as it was very watered down. The mains were palatable but nothing special. The staff were louder than any of the tables dining in the restaurant. I recommend Lubens which is situated a couple of doors down much more! The food was fresh , the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was warm, a much better...
Read moreFirst time visiting and didn't realise when I booked that it had a downstairs and all high chairs so when we arrived with our elderly Aunt with a walking stick, the staff were so lovely and accommodating to ensure she was comfy. Also special mention to our waiter Harry, brilliant sense of humour and so polite, attentive and friendly, we assumed with his great Italian pronunciation of the menu that he was part of the Luciano family! Finally, food was excellent, having not long returned from Naples where the food was disappointing, Luciano's beat it hands down. Will definitely visit again next time we're visiting our Auntie (and will book upstairs!). Perhaps maybe this could be mentioned by staff to callers when making a reservation as they are very steep stairs. Though downstairs is beautifully decorated, like being in Capri with all the...
