Extremely happy with this place. I love hot pot, but it can be difficult to find the right place at the right time. There have always been a number of different options in this area (I am not referring to Chinatown but rather the broader Holborn and Bloomsbury surroundings). Many of them are good in their own respects, but I have not yet found one that ticks all the boxes. For example, some of the options have a nice, quiet atmosphere so you can actually talk, but then the ingredients are not fresh. Others have uncomfortable tables. Still others give you a 2h slot and then rush you out of the door on the clock. Yet others do not have a sauce bar / trolley and you have to order your dip separately.
I got the hot pot cravings once again so booked a session with a friend. There was a place I used to frequent in the area, but it had closed over Covid so when I Googled Hot Pot Holborn I saw that there was a new option on Berners Street (I am very well acquainted with the area). I wanted to catch up with a friend, so I was looking for a place with a nice, quiet atmosphere with comfortable sitting, fresh ingredients, a decent enough sauce bar, and where we could sit around, take our time, eat, have some beers and baijiu, and catch up. And, this is exactly what we got. I have eaten in various hot pot restaurants in this area (and other parts of London) over the past 15 years or so. Overall, the quality of the hot pot ingredients (i.e. freshness of the meat) in this area has been on a steady rise for some time now and this place did not disappoint either. I only ever order meat for my hot pot and the wide selection that we ordered was excellent all around. We ordered the spiciest soup base and that was a real treat too. The service was prompt, friendly and unrushed. Over the three hours we stayed we had a feast fit for kings, all of which was washed down with ample amounts of beer and baijiu.
Importantly, the next day I felt great. I eat a lot during hot pot dinners and in some of the other places I have been left feeling somewhat unwell the following day, which I put down to the oil they use for the base. Absolutely not an issue here. Great place, highly recommended, and this will be my go-to spot for a hot pot going forward.
We spent 3h there and the bill came to just over £200 for 2 people, but without the alcohol it would have been...
Read moreThe Da Long Yi Hot Pot on Oxford Street is really good~ The old Chengdu hotpot tastes great, the dishes are very innovative, and it seems to be cheaper than before, let me share it with you!
🌶️ The hotpot base is a spicy beef oil hotpot, which is really spicy and fragrant, whether it is shabu-shabu meat or vegetables, it is especially fragrant!
🌶️ Four-color beef platter, double pepper beef is spicy and stimulating, garlic and coriander beef is full of flavor, and scrambled egg beef is tender! Enjoy all four flavors at once, and live in happiness!
🌶️ Dragon fruit shrimp fritters, the first time I have such a cute red shrimp fritter! Shabu-shabu in the pot, with the fiery red spicy oil, the shrimp fritters become red! Soft and tender, super fragrant~
🌶️ 1.78 meters of potato chips, I was shocked when it came up, I thought it was bean curd skin, but it turned out to be super thin potato chips, especially crispy and tasty, I feel like I have found the right way to unlock potatoes!
🌶️ Yibin sausage and egg fried rice, super authentic taste! A whole iron box is full of fried rice, and the portion is large enough for one person to enjoy several bowls!
🌶️ Iced green bean soup, a must-have in summer, it is really refreshing and spiciness~ Family members who like green bean soup with sand must go!
There are too many delicious dishes in their house, the green pepper and sesame tripe, money tripe and waist slices are all very delicious, and the tribute vegetables and pea sprouts are also very fresh and refreshing! And the price seems to have really become lower, because I am a member, all dishes are 12% off, but since last month, it has been 22% off for all members and non-members! ! There are many dishes on the 11th with 32% off! Must come!
It’s too cost-effective, mainly because the taste is really nice! The location is in the heart of Oxford Street. After eating, go shopping to digest the food. It feels invincible! Family...

and I’m honestly impressed by how stylish and thoughtfully designed this restaurant— truly one of the most chic Chinese hot pot restaurants I’ve ever experienced. The décor strikes the perfect balance between contemporary and authentic Sichuan vibes, spotlighting fresh ingredients and bold flavours in a beautifully curated space .
What sets Dalongyi apart is their interactive and fun Polaroid guest wall at the entrance — every visitor gets their photo taken on-site and displayed on a board. Such a creative, personal touch that immediately charmed me!
At the heart of the experience is choosing one, two or even three soup bases for your hot pot — be it spicy scallion‑butter, tomato, mushroom, or classic Da Long Yi signature broth. Watching the soup bubble at your table in real time just makes the meal feel alive .
The meats and seafood were next-level fresh and delicious — especially the huge prawns and beautifully marbled cuts of beef and pork. The juicy, tender quality is exactly what I look for in top-tier hot pot. The dumplings were also standout: perfectly bite‑sized, flavorful, and ideal sharing plates.
This place works brilliantly for both friendly dinners and business lunches. A detail that really stood out? After the meal, they offer a special mouthwash rinse — perfect if you enjoy spicy flavours but don’t want lingering breath before heading into a meeting. Such a thoughtful gesture that shows genuine care for...
