My eyes widened with glee when I saw the Bustronome bus at Coach Station 40B by Embankment. I knew I had picked well for the other half’s birthday! Bustronome is a fine dining experience combined with a luxury London Sightseeing Tour. They started off their success in Paris and came to London this summer. These guys are going to be big!
The transformation of the bus is amazing. The top floor dining area is absolutely stunning, complete with a glass roof. It is so well thought through, in particularly having holders for the drinks to prevent spillages! They haven’t cramped too many tables in and it really looks special.
Downstairs is where the magic happens – it is amazing that a fine dining 6 course meal can be served on the bus. To work in such a small space and produce great, beautifully presented food is a huge testament to the staff at Bustronome. Whilst we are talking about staff, I have to give a big thank you to the manager, JD and our waiter, Victor. Both gentlemen were so lovely and friendly and helped sing happy birthday when the final course came out. I just couldn’t resist giving them a hug at the end – the staff can really make the experience!
We had the six course dinner paired with wine experience (£135pp) departing at 7.15pm and returning at 10pm. On arrival we were presented with a glass of champagne and an appetiser of Aubergine Puree on Toast. This was followed by some delicious bread and butter.
Right, now on to the 6 course dinner! First up we had the Artichoke carpaccio with hazelnuts. This was presented with edible flowers and parmesan which added to the flavours of the dish.
Our second course was an amazing Prawn with Pumpkin Puree. This dish had a great kick to it and the pumpkin tasted slightly curried which was fabulous. Courses 2 and 3 were paired with Domaine Loizeau Clain Sauvignon Blanc which was light and crisp.
Our third course was Lemon sole fish and chips revisited. I would have liked the batter on the fish to be slightly crispier but the chips were SO good.
The Breast of Duck, beer sauce and melting celery root was a winner for me. The duck only had a smaller layer of fat and the sauce was delicious. Courses 3 and 4 were paired with a Bourgogne Cote Chalonnaise Pinot Noir which had a fruity aroma and hints of cherry.
The final two courses were Vieuz cheddar, fruit de saison et Porto and Destructured Lemon Pie. The Lemon Pie was meringue central and just melts in your mouth delicious!
The lunch time tour is just under 2 hours and dinner is 2 hours 45 minutes. Each guest has an interactive map with the route and pictures of the different sights. You are provided with a magnetic pen and when you click on a spot you can hear the history of the sight.
This is perfect for those who want to learn more about the sights of London and also for those who perhaps just want to listen to the great playlist and concentrate on eating and drinking!
This is the best London Sightseeing Tour and gastronomic adventure that you can go on! We were so impressed with the quality of the food given whilst we were on a moving bus and the wine was topped up throughout the journey. We felt very satisfied and impressed with the level of detail and organisation that went into the trip and the lovely staff who made our journey.
It obviously is on the pricey side but you do get value for money so save it for a special occasion. The lunch and tea time menus are cheaper at £60 which is fantastic value. I can’t wait to return in the daylight and see more...
Read moreI really wanted to like this, but there were quite a few things that colored the experience. I will preface this review by saying that I have a fair bit of experience in the food business and when it comes to tastings and upscale food. So my review is honest, but probably harsher than most when it comes to the food front. I would stress that this is not a “tour” bus, I think it’s more accurate to call it a glass-roofed bus drive with food. When you first get on the bus there is a QR code to scan, which will show you the route that the bus will be taking, and a few landmarks you’ll pass by (that’s the entire “tour”). Of course you’ll need Wi-Fi and a lot of battery in order to follow along with that, so to all my fellow out of country travelers, be sure and stock up on that data plan since there were Wi-Fi problems on the bus! And if you don’t bring headphones along, you can’t hear whatever anecdotes that may have been provided for the landmark. You should also know that because it’s a bus that does not make stops, you have a very short amount of time to take any sort of photo or to look at any sort of landmark. So it would have been nice to have some sort of notice that we are coming upon something given there is no WiFi free option available. Especially if they decide to serve your food right at the moment Shakespeare’s globe comes into view… Now the food. The dishes were plated impeccably, so if you’re looking for a good viral food photo op, it’s perfect. The first course was good, but a little flat. It could have used a touch more seasoning or another flavor note. 6.5/10. The cod was the best part of the tasting, it was the only thing I would reorder (aside from the drinks) if this were a restaurant. It was in a very buttery and smooth umami sauce 8.5/10. The next course was filet, and I could really tell it wasn’t a good cut of meat. I prefer a medium rare filet, and this was cooked closer to rare. I’m not sure if it was due to the freezing/aging process, or how it was tenderized or maybe filler that was added, but the meat itself wasn’t great. They paired it with a cauliflower puree that was delicious and the veggies they had on it were cooked perfectly, it’s a shame they weren’t the star of the dish. 5/10. Dessert was a pate a choux and it was DENSE. The cream inside wasn’t bad, but a little too sweet. 3.5/10. I ordered the lemongrass tea and la vie en rose to drink, they were both spectacular. 9-9.5/10. Service was fine, they were nice enough but didn't cater enough to the customers themselves. I asked for a photo and my server took it so I wanted to leave a tip for taking my photo and asked for change when I gave my server £20. She never gave me change. And the other personal kicker? Because I figured I’d need some extra battery power, I brought a backup power pack. When I got off the bus I turned around and tried to wave them down and the bus didn’t stop. I called the company as soon as I could and they “couldn’t find it”, so there goes $58.97 as well. Hope they liked all my...

£120: Menu with water and a hot drink £150: Menu with wine pairing, including: 1 glass of Champagne, 2 glasses of wine, mineral water (still or sparkling), coffee or tea
We were in Amsterdam and met up with two Brit’s who we told we’d be in London for 2 days/2 nights and what our plans were. They recommended this glass bus fine dining tour so we booked our dinner shortly after speaking with them. The location was easy to find, the coach bus pulled up and seated us immediately. We sat at the top and began our 6 course dinner. We got two dinners without champagne/wine and one dinner with champagne/wine. We had been to Italy for 8 days and Amsterdam for 5 days prior to this so the one who got the champagne/wine dinner said there was no comparison in wine between London to Italy because he was truly spoiled rotten in Italy with the wine but he was for sure having champagne/wine with his dinner regardless.
We throughly enjoyed our entire experience, every table was booked, the food kept flowing and everyone was having a great time. Even a birthday was being celebrated and we all sang happy birthday to her including singing songs together as a group. There was no way we would have covered so much ground by foot compared to this glass bus tour and with the added bonus of fine dining. We were wondering how our table wouldn’t tumble over while in motion but they had magnetic mats and custom glassware holder so everything was perfect.

Bravo to the chef and crew, staff and management for a flawless experience.
The only suggestion was to add a drink/soda with the £120 6-course dinner besides water and hot drink. We never did get that hot drink unless we declined...
