Part of a small chain with a few branches around Canary Wharf, this location feels a little more tucked away, which is actually part of its appeal . It overlooks the pier and has a pleasant indoor space plus plenty of outdoor tables. The menu offers lunch and all-day brunch. We had the full breakfast and the all-day oats (made with almond milk for a dairy intolerance). The breakfast was good value by Canary Wharf standards at £14, and everything was well-prepared. Service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed, with a mix of locals at weekends and office workers during the week. Being slightly outside the main Canary Wharf estate makes it less hectic, and it’s also convenient, just 2 minutes from the riverboat services and 5–10 minutes from the DLR, Elizabeth Line, and Underground. A great option if you’re looking for brunch with a view, away from the busiest parts of Canary Wharf.

I bought a takeaway coffee from Brera Cafe and the place was almost entirely empty with no customers sitting in. While I was paying, the owner was present and clearly saw I was ordering a takeaway. A few moments later, I sat down briefly at a table and was told by a staff member who had been prompted by the owner that I could not sit because I had not paid for a sit in I calmly asked to switch the coffee to a sit in cup instead but the sheer lack of common sense basic courtesy and customer service was shocking. For a cafe that depends on customers treating them with such hostility in an empty space is beyond reason. There was no respect no understanding just a petty and unwelcoming attitude I will not be returning and I genuinely hope others think twice before supporting places like this. Service matters and this was a disappointing example of how not to treat customers

3 July 2021. Service slow and really rude attitude towards customers. Pricey menu. My friend's and my bill altogether was 42pounds. Therefore, we expected just decent service, a thank you and a smile. Instead we got rude behaviour and a terrible attitude. We were told to sit so we would get the food at the table. It never arrived and I had to go and pick up a couple of croissants ordered. Right at the counter, one waitress sneezed right over the pastries, without covering her mouth nor turning her face. Yes, she was wearing a face mask, however she was just covering her mouth, but not her nose!!!! I expected at least an apology. Nothing happened. I was shocked of what I saw, I asked for my money back, got it for just one croissant, 3.90. I got coins and a huge face from the waitress, by the way. Never an apology or anything!!! Never going back!! PS TERRIBLE COFFEE!!!!

Avoid this cafe at all costs. They have a serious issue with staff conduct. Either the owner deliberately hires volatile staff or he/she has no self-awareness and cannot see that the place is losing hordes of customers because of an issue that can be easily fixed - train your staff to the level that all other cafes in London do. For some reason, this is one of the worst cafes in terms of how you are treated.

It’s easy to say that one customer is lying, let’s look at what multiple people say in their reviews:

“Dined yesterday, had to wait ages to be seated, served and order”

“I found Cafe Brera customer service extremely poor. We were appalled by how rudely they treated their customers when placing an order and left the cafe feeling very upset”

“Service slow and really rude attitude towards customers”

“Poor service and very rude staff”

“RUDE STAFF. VERY UNHAPPY WITH SERVICE. THESE PEOPLE SHOULD NOT WORK IN HOSPITALITY”

“Deserve a no star, absolutely no service at all. Staff also got some really terrible attitude. Won’t go there again for sure, And will try to discourage others from going”

“The staff are simply not trained well enough. They come across as rude, unfriendly and unaccommodating”

“The waitress was really rude, she brought the wrong order of coffee and treated us with disrespect even though it was her fault”

“Unprofessional staff, and unfriendly”

“Rude and mannerless women working behind the counter…”

“Service really bad. They forgot one part of our order and then seemed irritated with us for reminding them”

“Poor service, the waitress roll her eye when I just order a coffee just like I was wasting her time”

“Consistently slow & unfriendly service”

“Terrible service, very rude staff. That’s really sad. They shouldn’t work in Brera”

“Service very bad”

“Appalling service, never again”

“Very rude employees”

“The worst attention from the staff that one can expect. 0% recommended”

Are they all lying?

I will never read the response posted by the owner so it’ll be a waste of your time but you can do it anyway to pretend that...

Used to love this branch of Brera but i have no idea what happened. maybe change in chef? Management entirely? New menu is disappointing in itself and the staff are simply not trained well enough. They come across as rude, unfriendly and unaccommodating. This was not previously my experience with this place. While we were there there were alterations with the staff and two other customers about the quality of the food and on another occasion about money they charged a regular customer. Our experience was also incredibly unpleasant. We ordered a lasagne that was watery, tasteless and completely mushy. The meatball sandwich was the same. Tasteless and lacking in sauce. Just disappointing. Asked if I could get the Caesar salad from the kids menu since i wanted it as a side and i was told they would have to charge me extra for the chicken because it doesn't come with the kids menu. But it literally does. He accepted once i told him but i thought it was a bit unprofessional and strange...when the Caesar came it was all chicken and croutons with literally four pieces of stale wilting lettuce. What happened to this place??? All the money seems to be going into marketing and nothing into hiring good trained and experienced...

A strange and disappointing experience in this branch of Cafe Brera.

Visiting on a Sunday some weeks ago, service was excruciatingly slow, with a clear focus on making up tables vs taking orders. Staff were unable to produce the legally required allergen information and their allergy advice consisted of "don't order". Whilst that might have been sensible, and they apologised that they couldn't find it, this is not a professional way to run a restaurant.

Dishes that were ordered by others (without allergies) were straightforwardly wrong when they came out, and even when correct, were just poor (the whole point of bruschetta is that you toast it - tomatoes on floppy, raw bread is not an enjoyable meal).

The fact that waitstaff didn't understand they were clearly serving the wrong meal also suggests that they have minimal knowledge of the food, which is probably acceptable at this price point, but still disappointing.

Staff were decent enough to add a discount and voluntarily remove service charge - and for this I give 2, rather than 1 stars - but none of this is how you run a professional outfit. Shame, as a good location and...
