UPDATE BELOW
I never write reviews, and I wish I was writing this because I had exceptional service, but I’ve never felt so uncomfortable at a doctor’s office before, or any business really. I booked the appointment five days in advance. I had an email confirmation and, important to note, included NHS test results that I wanted to discuss in the appointment. Not only was my booking not registered and my information not in the system, but of course they had no record of the tests, which I thankfully brought copies of. Then when I gave all my information to the receptionist and she printed it out for review, 90% of the information was incorrect. I felt like she didn’t care. I was nervous coming to this appointment because of my ongoing health issue, and instead I became more frazzled by their lack of organization and attention to detail. They did get me in to see Dr Sameena Kausar who was immediately cold and unwelcoming. I had to repeat myself multiple times when she asked why I came to see her today and she kept asking questions to answers I already provided her with. I felt unheard and uncomfortable — she insisted I was probably experiencing these issues for a couple reasons, of which I explained multiple times the reasons she gave did not make sense nor apply to my situation. She hastily did a physical examination for all of 2 minutes and then proceeded to talk me through a few different options. She gave me conflicting information and made me feel like my medical issues were not concerning, even though they’ve been ongoing for over a year and the very reason I decided to ultimately pay out of pocket to go private is because I am very much concerned. She basically sent me on my way with homework for three months and said we can discuss after. Also paying via bank transfer felt so unprofessional. I received no receipt or notes about the appointment or medical “advice.” The fact that I’ve already had and paid for a consultation makes me want to follow through in three months, but the overall experience left me feeling so uncomfortable, confused and unheard that I do not want to go back.
UPDATED: I was contacted by the manager after posting my review and I’m pleased to say not only did they rectify the situation, they went over and above to make sure I was comfortable. I was given a new consultation with a different gynaecologist who was warm, friendly, actually listened to me and not only confidently diagnosed me but treated me in the same day for no additional fee. Previously, I was told to get blood work done and come back in three months to re-evaluate, but this reassured me that I was actually getting treatment. This went from the worst to the best experience. Thank you for rectifying...

Having just paid Dr Tharakaram’s fee of almost £200, I’m reflecting on how deeply disappointed I felt after my incredibly rushed and lacklustre appointment with him. The appointment was scheduled for 1:30pm at Lyca Health, however Dr Tharakaram was late and I was only seen at 1:55pm. After 6-7 minutes, the appointment was over.
After being invited to step in by the nurse, I was greeted by Dr Tharakaram who gave me a quick glance before switching back to hastily typing on his computer. He apologised for the delay and asked me what he can do for me - all while looking at the computer. I told him that I have 3 moles of concern that I’d like him to check. He then immediately asked me to take my clothes off so he can see, which I did - all while still looking at his computer and typing. I sat on the chair for 1-2 minutes shirtless while he finishing typing. This haste and lack of attention made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. He then got up, had a very brief look at a mole on my scalp, told me it’s of no concern, and immediately offered to remove it, without volunteering any information about how it may affect my hair, or generally without discussing any pros and cons with me. I declined his offer, and he continued with checking the other 2 moles in a similarly hastily manner, offering to remove another one of them. After he gave them the all clear, he offered to check any other moles, however by this point confidence in him had totally disappeared. I asked him some information about moles, and he briefly showed me a couple of charts. I told him that one of the moles on my back that he'd just checked looks similar to one on his chart, and he said I should ask my significant other to check it regularly - even though a minute before he'd said it's of no concern.
As I got up to leave, he called the nurse in and ask her to bring in the next patient, despite me still being in the room. He could have waited until I’d left.
Overall, I felt like Dr Tharakaram should have had more respect for me as a patient and taken his time. He should have had more respect for me when he asked me to take my clothes off and continued to type on his computer. I left the appointment just as worried as I was when I went in because of the rushed manner in which it was conducted and his lack of attention.

Read moreI had MRI of my bain on the 31st may 2018, for my severe symptoms. I am very unhappy with the radiology consultants report. It stated that there is a mild widening of csf space in the right cerebellumedullary angle cistern, probably due to some loculation /or a small arachnoid cyst. The radiologist report feels inaccurate, and used the word (probably) to diagnose me with an archanoid cyst. Also the exact size in dimensions of the cyst and it's location has not been stated. Which is not helpful nor acceptable as this seems to be guess work and is vague. One would think to have an accurate report. Also, the radiologist stated that i have on and of headaches and sharp pain L.side head since 2014. When i had clearly infomed by email the symptoms started in May 2017. .L lower lid, temple and cheek have neuralgia since surgery 2014. I came to your clinic for help and a accurate report. With suffering from constant discomfort and pain from the left side of my head at the base of my skull, which feels that there is always something permanently lodged at the base of my skull area, and this feeling does not go away. This constantly gives me a one sided heavy head, affecting my balance and walking. On and off bad headaches together with nausea and vomiting which headaches subsides, that i haven't had before, Until other symptoms occurred last May. My vision has been affected have blurred and some double vision together with dizziness. Lack of feeling and tingling in my arm, leg and limp unable to move. I am very unhappy and unsatisfied with the report. The doctor whom called me to talk through my report implied that a arachnoid cyst would not cause me harm. I strongly believe that this is the cause of my symptoms in my case. Whereas my pain was being blamed on migraines by the doctor. Pain and symptoms unbearable along side with neuralgia facial pain. Staff was very welcoming....
