A Timeless Gem in the Heart of Canary Wharf
Tucked away in the ever-evolving landscape of Canary Wharf, Docklands Dinner stands as a proud reminder of London’s rich café culture. For over 40 years, this charming spot has been serving up the best of traditional English breakfasts with warmth, authenticity, and consistency that’s hard to find these days.
Walking in feels like stepping back in time — not in a dated way, but in the most comforting sense. The café is spotless, welcoming, and proudly traditional. No fuss, no frills — just proper food, served right. Whether you're after a hearty full English, a classic bacon sandwich, or a strong builder’s tea, you’ll find it all here, just as it's meant to be.
Often described as the "last of the Mohicans," Docklands Dinner is one of the few remaining cafés in the area that hasn’t bowed to modern trends or lost its character. It’s a rare gem where regulars are greeted by name, the portions are generous, and the quality never wavers.
In a world of chain cafés and avocado toast, Docklands Dinner keeps the spirit of the traditional British caff alive — and does it brilliantly. Long may...
Read moreFinding a place like this in Canary Wharf was such a treat (even in London). A true East end gem. The chef (Mo) is incredibly talented and passionate about food, we had a chat with him after our meal as we were so delighted with what we ordered. My husband ordered a chicken schwarma and it was the best we have ever had in London (necessary use of a superlative). I got the eggs royale and it was bursting with flavour. All of which were beautifully prepared, I didn’t think of taking a photo.
We typically don’t order dessert for brunch, but the food was so good that we were curious about the cherry pie, and it did not disappoint, so delicious!
We’re keen to go back try the chef specials, which Mo says he changes to keep lunch exciting. Need I mention that the value + quality is unbeatable in Tower Hamlets and probably in all of London.
Checking out the Docklands Diner instagram we realised that Mark Wallace from Master Chef is also a Docklands Diner fan! Who...

Dockland Diner, has operated in this area for the last 40 years, and was in the area when Canary Wharf was being developed from late 1980s/90s onwards. This place found me via a Youtube DJ Food Audits (Darren John) or one of his channels...
The staff in Dockland Diner are fanastic, polite, friendly and informative. We had the breakfast option served with chips. It may seem strange, but it fully worked for me....
the sausges (2) were good quality butcher type sausages with seasoning like a Lincolnshire - nice.
the bacon (2) were thick cut, tasty flavour and not salty.
egg (2) fried, with splash to seal yolk (like an easy over) were a great compliment to the sausages, bacon and chips.
in summary great food, executed well. there are many other items, from soup to wraps, to fish and chips.
