We decided to have a great Sunday lunch and where better then at Gauchos by Canary Wharf Pier. So I booked in advance for mid afternoon to avoid the earlier crowed. They texted us to confirm that our table was ready while we were on the way, which I only saw once we arrived, but nevertheless it was a nice touch to the experience. We had a warm welcome when we arrived as the weather just turned windy and cold it wasn't advised to eat outside, but the hostess made sure we get the last available window table, which was greatly appreciated. We ordered the beef roast and the vegan and both were near perfect. They looked great, the textures were perfect on all items and the flavours came through as much as needed. Full compliments to the chefs for including roast garlic on the plate, it a nice touch! The vegan roast was also sublime, its a mushroom and nut mixed loaf which was flavourful enough but not overwhelming with a good texture that is hard to get in vegan dishes. Tomato sauce with roast wouldn't be my first choice, but understand within the concept of a vegan dish it made sense. The dish was overall well balanced, the amount of food was also well proportioned so we were able to finish it and still left some space for dessert. I loved it! The only criticism is that the food arrived colder then expected, but the flavours made up for it a bit. Overall the best Sunday roast we had in London so far this year and we are planning to come back for more. It is now our go to place for well prepared beef, especially following a disappointing visit to Hawksmoor the other week. I also loved the fact that we were able to order mocktails off the menu. Service was good throughout our visit, food was a definite 9/10 overall. Good to note they take both cash snd card payments. We will be back. This is my favourite restaurant in Canary Wharf and along this stretch of the riverside. It's my first choice for river views, for well made cocktails, for stylish all fresco dining, and for the best steak in town. It’s also my go-to spot for Sunday lunch. The service here is consistently excellent, food is always prepared to perfection, and they update the cocktail/mocktail menus regularly so you can try something new every time. The only thing I wish they had is better dessert options. We visited a couple of weeks ago, this time without a reservation and were fortunate to get a table, due to the windy weather keeping the crowds away. On this visit, we tried the burger and the veggie patatas dish—both were delicious. Our host, Karim, was exceptionally attentive and accommodating. He even double-checked specific details with the chef to ensure our dishes were prepared exactly to our preferences. His professionalism and friendly manner really enhanced the experience. As always, the food and service were outstanding. We’ll definitely be returning again soon.

I've gone here twice in the same month. I've been given multiple recommendations from steak enthusiasts, one of whom is Argentinian. So the expectations were particularly high. When it comes to service, my second visit was definitely better than the first. The welcoming was better and more conversational. We were served by a more professional waiter who was friendlier and more outspoken. You need more people like him. Now for the menu: Beetroot tartare Smooth, a touch of creamy avocado. Overall delicate. Delicious appetiser, plated beautifully. Empanada Crust was too thin, did not taste like lamb, feint replica of a meat pie, serious lack of flavour,  unmemorable. Honestly, a meat pie from Gregg's would be better. Ceviche Not the best ceviche I've had but makes it to the top 10. Nonetheless, an elegant summery starter. Food for thought: it's best to have your premium Steaks medium rare. This way you get the best out of it. Churrasco de Chorizo Nice, tender cut. Flavour profile was elevated by the garlic, parsley and olive oil marinade. This was not chewy at all and in fact the flavour was slightly better than the Ancho. I guess the marinade made the assist on this one. Ancho High marble score on this cut made for a succulent and juicy steak. Best on the menu. I'd recommend asking the chef to baste your steak with garlic. This would take it to the next level. Tenderstem Broccoli My favourite side, can't go wrong with this. Crispy, light, flavourful. Wine 'D.V Catena' Tinto Historico, Mendoza Difficult to find this wine. Rich & intense, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc. Perfection with your Steak. Dessert Sticky toffee pudding Moist sponge cake, fudgey delight. The clotted cream was a stretch for me but this was a nice dessert. Brownie Sundae I was disappointed at the quality of the brownies in here the first time but had hopes in the chef to redeem himself. The second time definitely came out on top, although I'd recommend adjusting the ratio of brownie to ice cream. It needs more brownie. Apparently, the food is so good that you don't feel the time pass by. We were there for just a bit over two hours. The ambience is nice. Not to purposely end on a negative note but I'd rate the service 3/5. The staff at other restaurants on the same scale pay more attention to detail: changing out your cutlery after each dish, making sure your cutlery/glasses are resting on a cloth as opposed to the questionably clean table. Looking forward to seeing an improvement on my next visit.

We went here for my birthday lunch. The greeting was lovely & friendly. The restaurant wasn’t very busy, which was good. Gauchos is a restaurant that I had been to before, many years ago & the presentation of the restaurant is still very good. We ordered cocktails which were ok. I don’t usually drink but as I was celebrating I had a pornstar martini which was nice but I usually feel a little tipsy after one of these but with this one I didn’t. The others like their cocktails but they also said they lacked any taste with regard to alcohol content. We all ordered from the set lunch menu. It was 3 courses for £19.95 We had the Prawn Chicharron for starters. It was lovely! I would definitely order this from the main menu, if it guaranteed that I got a bigger portion😊10/10 Mains, we had Rump & chips. I also ordered a side of tenderstem broccoli. The steaks were nice, not amazing, but nice. I was hoping for home made chips, even if I was only given a few chips presented nicely. Sadly, it looked like we were given McCain chips 6.5/10 They tasted ok though. The broccoli was weird. It had peanuts crumbed on it & some sort of drizzled sauce. We didn’t like it 2/10 For dessert we all had Chocolate Brownie with white chocolate ice cream. I love desserts. It was adequate. We were all unsure on the taste of the ice cream 7/10. Ooh..! They did write happy birthday on my plate with my dessert & put a candle in it, which was really nice. Thank you ❤️ Only gripe is, when we were eating dessert not all of us had finished & the plates were collected. He then made one of our party feel rushed & uneasy. I will say that the aesthetics of the restaurant are lovely. The staff were pleasant. The food, for the price, was really good. P.s your bathrooms could do with a little bit more light. I would definitely return to this restaurant

Dear Gaucho Team,

I wanted to take a moment to share just how truly outstanding our recent visit to your Canary Wharf location was — an evening that far exceeded our expectations and made a very special occasion even more memorable.

It was my wife Chantelle’s birthday, and I wanted to treat her to something elegant, intimate, and indulgent — Gaucho was the perfect choice. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were welcomed with warmth and professionalism. The atmosphere was stylish yet relaxed, and we immediately felt like we were in good hands. But what truly elevated the evening to something unforgettable was the impeccable service provided by Adelina.

From the very first interaction, Adelina made a lasting impression. She greeted us with a genuine smile and a warmth that felt both personal and sincere. Throughout the evening, she struck the perfect balance between attentiveness and discretion. She seemed to anticipate our needs before we even had to ask topping up drinks, checking in with perfect timing, and making us feel completely cared for without ever being overbearing.

Adelina’s knowledge of the menu was exceptional. She guided us through the options with such passion and clarity, offering recommendations that were perfectly tailored to our preferences. Thanks to her guidance, every course was a delight from the starters to the beautifully cooked steak, right through to dessert. Her enthusiasm for the food and the experience was infectious, and it’s clear she takes pride in every part of what she does.

What stood out most, however, was the incredibly thoughtful gesture she made towards the end of our meal. Without any prompting, she surprised my wife with a birthday treat a beautifully presented plate with ice cream and a rich chocolate brownie, complete with a candle and a personal touch that completely caught us off guard in the best possible way. It was sincere, it was heartfelt, and it brought a huge smile to my wife’s face. That moment transformed an already wonderful dinner into something deeply meaningful.

In a world where service can often feel rushed or transactional, Adelina reminded us of the power of genuine hospitality. Her warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail set a gold standard. She didn’t just provide excellent service — she created a memorable experience that we will both cherish. It’s rare to encounter someone who so clearly loves what they do and goes out of their way to make others feel special.

Adelina is an incredible ambassador for your brand, and I sincerely hope her efforts are recognised. It’s because of people like her that guests not only return, but also share their stories with others. She made our celebration feel effortless, elegant, and extraordinarily thoughtful.

Thank you again to Adelina and to the entire team at Gaucho Canary Wharf for a night that will stay with us for a long time. We’re already looking forward to our next visit — and will definitely be requesting Adelina again!

Warmest...
