Words cannot express how much I enjoyed my experience at Cafe Grill! I first visited this restaurant upon the recommendation of a fellow Bengali, when we were both discussing how much we missed our grandmother’s food and all the varieties of fish (especially shutki maach) we’d get to enjoy back home... Cafe Grill certainly fulfilled my cravings! I returned recently with a group of 20 friends to celebrate our graduation. The restaurant owner was so lovely and helped me preorder the food so they’d have enough freshly prepared for when everyone arrived (little tip: even though their online menu includes the general Brick Lane fanfare, they make a HUGE variety of homestyle dishes that you can pick from in the restaurant). Lovely fresh roshagollas and gulab jamuns! They were even sweet enough to run out and provide some juicy watermelons for those who were lactose intolerant. They definitely go the extra mile for their customers, prepare beautifully spiced and balanced dishes, and do it all at a very affordable rate (we all left full bellied and only paid £12.50 each!). Highly recommend checking out this small joint and am already looking forward...
Read moreExceptionally good, mouth watering flavours with various selection of freshly cooked food to choose from, ranging from modern style cooking to desi village style. I also enjoyed the desert which is called 'mitay' dipped in a syrup served warm, it just melted in my mouth. Waiters were really friendly, they knew when to serve without constantly distracting unlike some other places. Bablu was really good at serving and so was all the other staffs. The food portion wasn't too small or big, it was just perfectly right. The desi style biryani came out fresh and you can taste the meat like it's made from well branded steak, it wasn't undercooked or overcooked. The different selection of fish we had, from fresh fish to dry fish...was seasoned and flavoured perfectly well. The food is something different here than the same usual you find in most places. Couldn't find any flaws whatsoever....thank you...thank you...and thank you....

Read moreWell what can I say, we decided to go eat at a certain restaurant on brick lane, after driving around and around for a while trying to find parking finally found it and walked the distance to the restaurant, found out it was more or less like a anything goes, just to get the customers in (alcohol flowing) so decided not to eat there. After walking the cobbles of brick lane, find out that there was only a handful of restaurants that don't sell alcohol or allow alcohol to be bought into the premises. So with the lack of choice we decided to eat here.
Ordered the following Non veg thaali Chicken Jalfrezi Beef curry Chicken Biryani Rice Paranta
Non veg thaali and chicken jalfrezi were alright in taste wise but the the beef curry was tasteless, lacked flavour and the beef was hard. The biryani was another disappointment, It seemed like it was atleast a day or two old as the rice was more or less stuck together in bunches and the taste...
