Have you been in an Izakaya before?

An izakaya (居酒屋) is a type of bar in Japan where many people go to drink and have snacks. This is absolutely my fav place coz I love eating snacks and drinking🍺🍺🍺

My colleague in France came to London and we went to @cocoro_izakaya having dinner. When I passed through the entrance, there was a red wall with plates of food. Further down into the restaurant, there were some lanterns and photos with Japan background. I felt like going back to Tokyo😍

WHAT WE HAD 🥢Agedashi tofu 🍗Yakitori 🥟Vegetable gyoza 🍘Takoyaki 🐔Gomateba (chicken wings) 🍗Karaage 🍜Tonkotsu ramen 🍜Karaage miso ramen

Agedashi tofu was tasty and authentic. The silken tofu was lightly coated and deep fried then placed in Tsuyu sauce. It topped with grated daikon, ginger and nori. Love the authenticity 🥰

Yakitori used chicken thigh with teriyaki sauce. It’s juice and sweet which balanced well with the bitterness of beer.

Takoyaki was in perfect ball shape. It’s topped with mayo, takoyaki sauce, aonori & Katsuobushi. The taste was good but the octopus was too tiny inside🙈.

Tonkotsu ramen came with Char Siu, seaweed, bean sprouts and tamago. The broth was not creamy white but my colleague said the taste was good. Karaage miso ramen came with Karaage, wood ear mushroom, bean sprouts and tamago. The broth was strong in miso flavour and delicious. The ramen was chewy and firm. Very nice🥰

How’s the gyoza, Gomateba and Karaage? I’ll have another post on Instagram @ccgyozalover for these...

I wanted to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional experience I had at Cocoro Bloomsbury. Here are five key points that truly set your establishment apart:

Charming Japanese Atmosphere: Your decor and atmosphere beautifully capture the essence of Japanese culture. It felt like a delightful journey to Japan, enhancing the overall dining experience.

Delectable Cuisine, Especially Fresh Sashimi: The culinary delights at your establishment are truly extraordinary. The sashimi was remarkably fresh and the sea urchin, a rare find in the UK, was an absolute culinary treasure. Each bite was a symphony of flavors.

Warm and Friendly Service: The warmth and friendliness of your staff made me feel right at home. The genuine hospitality added a personal touch to the dining experience, creating a welcoming atmosphere.

Fair and Sensible Pricing: Your pricing strategy is commendable. The fair and sensible prices make the exceptional dining experience accessible to a broad audience, enhancing the value for your patrons.

Excellent Location Near the British Museum: The strategic location, just a minute's walk from the British Museum, adds another layer of convenience and charm to your restaurant. It's a perfect blend of cultural richness and accessibility.

Thank you for providing such an outstanding dining experience. I look forward to returning soon and recommending your restaurant to...

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant on December 14th around 2:30 PM. Despite their menu advertising “unlimited beef” for the sukiyaki, the service and overall attitude were appalling. Here are the main issues we encountered: Terrible service attitude When we asked for more beef (as clearly allowed on the menu), the server responded with an incredibly rude and condescending tone, even rolling their eyes at us. They pointed out that we would be charged if we didn’t finish our food, which we were already aware of because it was clearly written on the sign. There was no need to repeat it in such an unprofessional and disrespectful manner. False advertising When we requested two additional plates of beef, we were first told that the kitchen was closing soon. Then, after some back and forth, they brought out only one plate, saying the other plate was still being prepared. This is unacceptable for a restaurant claiming to offer “unlimited” beef, as it creates confusion and leaves customers feeling misled.

This combination of poor service and failure to meet the promises on their menu has completely ruined the dining experience. I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for quality food or...

My friend and I had the all you can eat sukiyaki here. Overall not a bad experience if you like sukiyaki and have a good appetite. Otherwise a bit overpriced. The pot comes with beef, vegetables, tofu and glass noodles. You can ask for more of any of the above, plus pork, rice and udon. All ingredients are fresh, though the beef is not the highest quality type and not tender enough to my taste. The soup base for sukiyaki is authentic. It has a 90 minutes time limit but I don't think the waiters were very strict about it. We didn't have any problems getting more food. However none of the waiters or waitresses we encountered spoke good English, so communication was a bit challenging. It took us a while to figure out the all you can eat rules - for example it wasn't obvious that you could get rice or udon. And there's only that much one can eat in 90 mins... £38 per person + service charge is a bit expensive considering the amount of food I end up having.
