The Duke of Kendal đ38 Connaught St, St George's Fields, London W2 2AF đ Marble Arch đşÂ ÂŁ5.50 Amstel â¤ď¸ Set amongst the swish shops of Connaught Village sits the very elegant Duke of Kendal. . Itâs just a short walk from Marble Arch tube, through Connaught Square whoâs residents include Tony Blair and Claudia Winkelman, then just a short stroll through the wonderful shops of Connaught Village and your here. . On arrival there was a warm welcome from the lady behind the bar who was chatting to one of the locals who was perched at the bar. I arrived here just after 1pm and it was quiet, a few punters arrived shortly after and the place started to fill up. The pub is a triangular shape with tables and chairs packed closely together which makes the bar a very social space. Thereâs a Joanna here which comes out now and again on Sunday evenings. Thereâs another bar at the back which is set up as a dining area, this pub has a strong pizza game as well as other food options. My pint wasnât overly priced, even though I was in an upmarket part of town. For all you love birds out there, why not pay a visit to the love tree opposite the pub â¤ď¸ . The @dukeofkendal is a gastro pub that doesnât alienate itâs wet trade customers which is great thing. Good service and a warm welcome awaits you here.

The pub is a friendly local pub with a separate restaurant in another room.
I haven't spent much time in the pub section except to watch Sky Sports.
The high quality of the food in the restaurant makes it into a gastro-pub and the wine and food prices are higher than most pubs even in the area. Though the quality of the wine could be better for the prices charged.
The food is well cooked, dressed and presented. I can recommend the lamb shank. Very tasty with a delicious berry "jus". The duck was also deemed to be good. It certainly looked good.
Friendly staff. Several speak Spanish or French.
ÂŁ120 plus tip for 6 main courses, one bottle of young Rioja wine, one lemonade, one half Guinness, two pints of Fosters lager, two coffees and one ice cream.
The selection of English beers did not meet the approval of one of the party from Yorkshire - all flat, hoppy with no head - unlike northern English bitters.

Read moreI think this place recently changed owners. It was recommended by the concierge at our hotel as a good place for dinner. Looked at the menu on line and it looked good. Went there to eat, but they weren't serving dinner yet. Decided to grab a pint while we waited for dinner to be served. We looked at menus while we were waiting, the menu was different than what was online, but it we were ok with that, thinking they hadn't had a chance to update their menu online, it happens. Then when we went to order, we were told that the dishes were not as they were described on the menu. What they were offering was completely different from what was online and in the menu. To top it all off, the staff bordered on rude. We left and went elsewhere for dinner. Ok for a drink, but plenty of better places...
