Went there with my fiancé and mum after visiting the British Museum just across the street.

The place looks nice and tidy, with the kitchen at the front and dining area at the back, which has a conservatory roof.

As we walked in, I asked for a table for three and we were promptly shown to one. We then proceeded to order our dishes - one medium and one large cod and chips and a portion of scampi. As for the drinks, we only went for a Diet Coke and tap water for all three of us.

The food came quickly, however we were negatively surprised by the size of the portions compared to the price. Each of the dishes had about one handful of chips. Due to this, we asked one of the staff if that was our order, which he confirmed. As we were unsatisfied with this, we have asked for two extra portions of chips. The tartare sauce was in a very small quantity too if the small bowl it came with the dish.

The dishes tasted good, but we strongly felt like the prices there were due to the proximity to the British Museum, thus lots of tourists.

I'm glad we were able to support a small local business, however they need to check their food prices.

A 3 ⭐ review from me: the food was ok and the staff were friendly enough, however the portions are quite small for...

I recently visited the Fish and Chip Place, and despite some initial hesitations due to negative reviews, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall experience.

First and foremost, the food was undeniably good. The fish tasted incredibly fresh, and the batter was perfectly crispy. It was evident that they take pride in sourcing quality ingredients and preparing their dishes with care.

However, I did find the prices to be a bit marked up, and the portion of chips could have been more generous. While this was a slight disappointment, it didn't detract too much from the overall enjoyment of the meal.

What impressed me the most was that it seemed like the management had taken previous negative reviews into account. The food quality appeared to have been modified, resulting in a much-improved dining experience. It's reassuring to see a restaurant actively working to address feedback and enhance their offerings.

In conclusion, while there are areas for improvement such as pricing and portion size, the Fish and Chip Place delivers where it counts – in flavor and freshness. If you're in the mood for tasty fish and chips and don't mind paying a bit extra, I would recommend...

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant's fried fish-it was outstanding. I ordered the fried European plaice, which is quite rare to find in typical fish and chip shops. The flavor was unique and rich, with a strong, pleasant fish aroma. The batter was perfectly crispy, the seasoning was spot on, and the fish itself was tender. However, there was a slight fishy taste that might not be for everyone.

I also tried the Korean fried chicken, which came coated in a strong garlic-flavored sauce-just the way I like it. The chicken was cooked just right (except for one piece), with a crisp exterior and juicy meat. Unfortunately, one of the drumsticks was undercooked, with a bit of blood and a raw texture inside. Apart from that, the wings and other pieces were delicious.

As for the spring rolls, they were a bit underwhelming. They tasted just like the store-bought kind-nothing special-and were slightly cold.

The service was great, though. The staff were polite, and the food came out quickly.

Overall, I’d definitely come back and would recommend this place, especially for the fried fish and...

I arrived around 13:30 pm and ate in. The restaurant was empty - just the way I like it as I’m not surrounded by people. As you can see from the photos it has a patio style roof which is gorgeous. Menu items are pretty pricey. Half Korean fried chicken and chips cost £12 with an addition charge of £3 for soy and garlic sauce. However, I can’t fault the food. It was a real delight to eat and I was really full afterwards. The chicken is on the bone and cut into segments. I had about 7-8 large pieces with chips all covered in that sauce and everything was CRISPY. The chips are typical “chip shop” style which was covered in that soy garlic sauce and very tasty. A great fusion of East meets West. If you’re a bit flush for cash and need a treat to cheer you up I would recommend. Word of warning, food arrival was a bit slow but I totally understand they were cooking to order so can’t complain. Don’t order soft drinks though. A can of coke cost me just shy of £3! Minus one star for that price.
