I am a regular customer. I could not recommend this place of wonders highly enough. Since they opened I have introduced dozens of my friends to this little gem in the West End. I am Italian and I grew up in an area where we pride ourselves on having a few of the best gelato shops (Gelaterie) in the whole Country. Well, La Gelatiera can - without any doubts - match their quality, if not exceeds it. This is genuine Italian gelato. No compromises. Pistacchio (spelled with a double 'c' and pronounced 'pisËtakkjo', PLEASE!) is most certainly the best one I have ever had. I really hope they won't have to raise their prices due to increasing rent or other costs. I only have to minor criticisms: I would like to see more traditional Italian flavours, although the fancy and unique original flavours they came up with are amazing! (please, try the Cornish Blue one. It is mouthwatering) Towards the end of the day their gelato can turn out to be a little 'frozen' or 'iced', most probably due to the lack of preservatives that other non-artisanal ice-creams contain. If you want to taste it at its best, try not to get there too late in the evening.
I would give this place 6 stars, if I could....
Read moreThis was a great late night find after seeing âWitness for the Prosecutionâ because they had interesting flavors and a vegan option. They even had a gluten free cone and a gluten free, dairy free brownie.
I had the vegan dark chocolate gelato in a gluten free cone. The vegan option was very rich in taste but a bit much and I wasnât a fan of the gluten free cone though appreciate that it was an option. They give customers a huge portion â even with one scoop â and I mean huge, so I wasnât able to finish mine.
I had the gluten free, dairy free brownie the next morning and that was awesome. The brownie was dense in chocolate flavor and filling. It didnât taste gluten free nor dairy free.
My spouse had two different flavors: peanut butter/chocolate/caramel (which he raved about) and a raspberry cheesecake which he thought was just average.
The gelatiera is small but they have adequate seating for a handful of customers. The staff was very patient with my husband trying different flavors and me asking questions about the gluten free...
Read moreRevolting experience. Two pretentious men in a pink room blasting pop hits which make one shout out their order. The most unpleasantly surprising thing was that my boyfriend was treated with no respect whereas I was served as one would expect from such a mediocre place; enough of fake smile to make the person not be considered yet another malicious London cafe owner. The gelato was like any other gelato... for the price of any other gelato too so I suppose no complaints can be made here. However, the so-called âstrawberry passionâ waffle was a revolting disappointment; Strawberries were lovely and there was enough of them but unfortunately apart from a chocolate sos they were the only thing on the waffle. Surrounding the waffle, filling up the plate was a whipped cream decoration, perhaps solely for the purpose of being aesthetically attractive to the eye to compensate for what one is about to put into their mouth. Said that, the waffle tasted of burnt salted butter and the inside tasted...
