I recently attended yesterday morning, The Lamb Taverns Winter Warmer event, which included welcoming the first beer barrel of Young’s Winter Warmer 2023 beer to London by the traditional horse and dray. The morning also included a wonderful full English breakfast and winter warmer merchandise too, where some of the £25 ticket proceeds went towards charity too! This was such a worthwhile, special and fantastic experience from the beginning, right through to the end. The atmosphere was set when the location is in as beautiful place as the Leadenhall Market, and Lamb Tavern pub. Having the first taste of the 2023 Young’s Winter Warmer beer barrel while waiting for the horse and dray to arrive was an amazing way to start and get in the mood. The ticket included as many top ups of the beer until the barrel ran dry which was special. Then the traditional horse and dray arrived which was such a spectacle and honour to see and be apart of for the morning. The men were dressed in traditional, smart uniforms and the horses were in impeccable condition. The barrel got wheeled off the cart and then lots of photos could be had with the horses. The morning then followed on by an amazing full English breakfast upstairs overlooking the beautiful market. On the individual tables were young’s winter warmer merchandise consisting of a tote bag with socks, hat and scarf included, which was a lovely touch and the room for breakfast had lovely traditional background music to set the scene and keep the good vibes going. The breakfast was one of the nicest full english breakfasts I’ve had! Thank you SO SO SO much to the Lamb Tavern pub, for such a lovely, special morning and to your brilliant team, who were all so welcoming and friendly. Will 1 million percent return, and recommend! Would also love to do this year after year as it was brilliant! What also was fantastic is some of the ticket price went towards food bank charities also. Thank you so much again :) can’t wait to...
Read moreWe came here expecting a simple meal, after canceling a reservation at a "notable British institution".because we were too jet lagged to bother with a taxi to dinner. We were blown away by the quality, creativity, and spectacular service. While sold out of many of our first choices (we got there late), they bent over backwards to get us what we wanted.
Excellent lamb and steak. But the mike drop moment came with our last minute decision to order side dishes. My potato dauphinois came looking like a neat square serving of potatoes. First bite was astonishing. Possibly the most delicious potato dish I've ever had. That's all I'm going to say, other then finding out it takes them 24 hours to prepare.
My friend ordered a side of tomatoes. What arrived was a simple dish with a bunch of plump cherry tomatoes on the vine. Well, I thought, that's the epitome of "phoning it in." And then we tasted it. !!!! Sautéed in butter? Olive oi? Just until softened but not bursting and sprinkled with flaky salt. Each bite was a flavor bomb. If Michelin ever decides to visit (unlikely because it seems so unprepossessing) both these items would be listed as honorable mention.
I can't say enough about the high level of cooking and service going on in this little corner of Leadenhall Market. At first glance it looks like just another tavern thronged with Fleet Street happy hour goers. But look under the cover and you find more than one diamond...
Read moreLamb Tavern in Leadenhall Market is a gem of a find while exploring London. If you are at Sky Garden, this n you way out be sure to make the short walk to Leadenhall Market and the Lamb Tavern for a pint and fantastic meal. We reserved Sunday afternoon dinner and were not disappointed. Scotch eggs, Yorkshire pudding, were great, as well as all the other dishes. We sat outside, because the covered market is such a great sight, but there is also tables by the bar or upstairs. If you want an outdoor table, be sure to make a reservation. Walk ups might get lucky, otherwise you can select a table by the bar or upstairs. Service was super friendly and the right amount of attentive. Before leaving Leadenhall, be sure to explore the other shops, grab a coffee or dessert, and poke around to see if you can find the Harry Potter filming location for the entrance to Diagon Alley (look for the eye doctor’s offices ce with a blue/yellow door). This is a tavern and market...
