If you ever have 2 hours to spare while in London, definitely go book the unique "Tour for Muggles". Not a Harry Potter fan? No problem. Neither was I.
Starting at Leadenhall Market, your wizarding expert will take you to places you otherwise wouldn't have visited. Suddenly some historical London-facts get mixed into the story. Financial districts wearing glass and steel facades, turn out to hide historical sites that relate Charles Dickens, J.K. Rowling, Arthur Conan Doyle and Bram Stoker. And are those guards at the entrance of a National Financial Institution really human? Or do they merely take on this human form, when in reality, we all know that the nation's gold reserves should really be guarded by dragons? And why didn't those dragons in coats of arms make sense before?
Our guide, Steph Black, prides herself on her famous uncle, that other illustrious S. Black. Coming from a family of wizards, the real magic lies in the way she includes everyone in the company. Kids get involved by testing their knowledge of books and films - no wrong answers. The grown-ups may pick up the countless little jokes interlacing all the stories. All in the great British humorous tradition. Our guide is both a writer and an actress - and it shows. What you thought would be a guided tour, really turns out to be your own private theatrical show and entertainment. While navigating narrow alleys, the movie theme music fills the air. You change the decor yourself by walking to different locations.
Then, just as sudden as it started, the tour comes to an end. The question remains: does it even matter, whether it's magic or imagination? You realize magic may involve imagination, and imagination may create magic. It's the power of storytelling that sparks imagination. And it's the person telling the story that's adding the magic. The tour will leave you with a little sparkle of magic. London is a place that has so many sides to explore. Why not...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of joining this walking tour with Steph as our guide, and I must say it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Steph Black, who introduced herself as Sirius Black's niece, not only had an incredible knowledge of the Wizarding World but also possessed a captivating and fun personality that engaged both adults and children alike.
Steph had a phenomenal ability to make the tour interactive and entertaining, especially for my 11 year-old Potterhead son. She challenged his Harry Potter knowledge, sparking his excitement and curiosity throughout the tour. Her passion for the subject matter was evident, and it made the experience all the more enjoyable. Steph knows the series better than Dobby knows mismatched socks.
But the tour wasn't just about Harry Potter; Steph also showcased her expertise in London's surroundings, providing valuable insights into the city's history and landmarks. This added depth to the tour, making it a well-rounded experience for everyone.
What made Steph truly remarkable was her ability to captivate even those with limited knowledge of the Wizarding World. My 76 year-old mum, who had never seen a Harry Potter movie or read the books, was absolutely enchanted by Steph's storytelling and the magical atmosphere of the tour. She even exclaimed that this tour alone made our trip to London worthwhile.
Steph set the perfect tone for our London adventure, creating a memorable and enchanting start to our trip. We couldn't have asked for a better guide. Thank you, Steph, for sharing your knowledge, enthusiasm, and love for Harry Potter and London with us. You made our visit...
Read moreI’ve done this tour four times (I have a lot of visitors who love Harry Potter) and each time I’m reminded why I think this is a must do.
The tour guides are out of this world incredible - thanks Lolli Weasley for keeping up that streak. Kuddos to the tour company for finding kind hearted, funny, knowledgeable Harry Potter nerds to who create wonderful memories.
One thing I’ve noticed from previous tours is that you don’t have to be a Harry Potter fan to have a great time. On each of the tours I’ve watched parents, grandparents and other family members who are there because someone else in their party loves Harry Potter have a great time. There is also a lot to learn about London that frankly I wouldn’t know otherwise.
If you are a Harry Potter fan you really should do this. It is a great way to increase your Harry Potter knowledge. As a treat you’ll get to explore real places that influenced Harry Potter.
Frankly it is just a really fun tour and I’m so glad I found this company to take...
