This place dates back to 1889 — rich in history and an ideal setting for a relaxing break. Or so I thought. Unfortunately, I left deeply disappointed. I haven’t encountered such poor customer service in a very long time 🕰️ We were all expected to speak English 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿— no flexibility, no effort to accommodate. And yet, if I were in Israel 🇮🇱, I’d do my best to speak Hebrew to get by. Why is it so difficult here to show a bit of patience or courtesy? I ordered a coffee ☕️, but it was barely warm. When I politely asked for a replacement, I was met with attitude — dismissive and rude. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable in a city that welcomes thousands of tourists daily. I considered giving two stars 🌟, but honestly, that would be too generous. The atmosphere is lovely, and the setting has potential. However, the toilet 🚻 was unhygienic — not what you’d expect from a place of this supposed standard. (Yas?) claimed to be the manager. I told him directly: “Then act like one.” I won’t be returning. Next time, I’ll head straight to Costa or Nero.

BE CAREFUL AND CHECK THE DATES! Today, 02/13/2025, I bought macaroons in a package, despite the fact that I had a small child with me and I was buying macaroons for him, I asked if they were fresh, to which the saleswoman with a smile assured me that of course they were fresh. The packaging was dirty and did not look like £18, she did not even give me a receipt. When I got home, I saw that today was the last day and they were made on 02/09/2025. So eat them all or throw them away at midnight. So thank you, woman, for the LIE with a smile on your face. I constantly bought cakes and asked if they were fresh, I believed them because there were no dates anywhere, now I am sure that Paul can lie with a smile on his face

- coffee is 5* but not applicable with this visit - Paul’s are over priced for what you pay - I ordered a soup of the day with extra bread - upon returning to the office I find the below, The soup - small as per and very watery 💧 The bread - smallest stale end of a baguette 🥖 I’d also like to point out that the bread is not fresh, if you buy a baguette the bread is from the day before and is hard a rocks - try not to break your teeth! To add to the poor quality food the service is also poor, 1 other person in the queue and I waited 5 minutes to be acknowledged whilst they chat behind the counter.

First time I visited their cafe but I have visited a number of their bakeries in UK and overseas.

I ordered vegetarian petit dejeuner and regular latte with caramel syrup. The plate aesthetically is lacking but that's not a big deal if it tastes good. Two eggs, sourdough bread, spinach, tomato and a portobello mushroom with some herbs sprinked on top. The mushroom and spinach had a good natural taste. Two areas for improvement with this dish: 1. The bread was a sourdough type and the crust was very, very hard. I could not cut it with my knife without putting a lot of force into it. I ended up having to hold it in my hand and eat. I left a piece to show the member of staff how almost impossible it was to cut. I appreciate the bread type is generally quite tough but I have eaten this type of bread in other restaurants and not had this problem. I would suggest replacing blunt cutlery. 2. The spinach had nice natural taste but very oily.

Finally, about my coffee. The saucer my coffee came on was not clean and the base of my cup was covered in brown powder/mess, assuming from their kitchen tops. Such a basic standard being missed and makes me question hygiene standards. The coffee itself was okay but too much caramel syrup in.

If you are going to visit, I would recommend sticking to pastries and a basic latte, probably would not recommend...

It was my first experience there and Lady who is probably store manager was very rude to me and not really understansing me . Because, I am buying my coffee in other places like in Holand station there is Paul store and I never had issues with them and they have nice customer very polite service. But in March arch store, I was very disappointed because I was happy that Paul treated me for free coffee from app and lady didn't wanted to give me mocha coffee. And I was willing even to pay different with coffee but she still was very rude. I don't really suggest anyone to go there it was my first experience and last, it wasn't pleasant at all. Very disappointed about customer service there. It was my first journey heading to station back to work and with such attitude makes my day even not pleasant. It is not even hard to listen to your customers and make the day really pleasant, because of this covid everyone had bad days but please don't bring this to...
