I visited Manicomio with four friends on 20th December. I am allergic to tree nuts. Most restaurants or any professionals that work with food will be aware that tree nuts and peanuts allergies are completely different.
I informed the waiting staff that I had a tree nut allergy and even listed out the nuts I can’t have (almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, cashews, pecan nuts, Brazil nuts, pistachio nuts, macadamia)
For a starter we ordered the sharing platter anti-pasti board and were told that this comes with Arancini balls. All I wanted was the arancini balls! When the platter arrived there were no arancini balls! When we questioned this the waiter came back and told us it because it had nuts in. I have never heard of arancini balls with nuts so I asked what type of nuts where in it. We also asked them to bring the arancini balls because even if I couldn’t eat them, my other 4 friends could. When the waiter came back he said it is not actual nuts but a nut oil. So I said, “OK what type of nut oil?” to which he responded with indignation “ah you’re killing me” as in “are you joking?” The waiter made me feel like I was being really difficult. Rather than go back and ask again, he just held his hands up and said “I’ve told you not to eat it, if you eat it it’s not our responsibility”.
As a paying customer I just think this service is absolutely shocking.
Similarly our waitress recommended we go with the pumpkin ravioli which has pine nuts (which are fine for me to eat) I kept being told it “had nuts in” and I shouldn’t eat it. But what type of nuts? Was it just pine nuts or where there also some other tree nuts in the dish? I still don’t know…
I got the impression that the wait staff that they felt intimidated by the chefs who were really busy and that they couldn’t keep going back in to the kitchen and asking questions.
I emailed the restaurant to tell them this on 21st December at 09.42am and did not even get a reply so I am posting this publicly.
Safe to say I will not be going back and would recommend you avoid due to the poor...

Although the restaurant offers outside seating, we opted to sit inside due to the slightly chilly summer weather. The interior ambiance was cozy and inviting, with tasteful decor that complemented the overall dining experience. While I can imagine the outside seating being wonderful during warmer months, the comfortable indoor environment ensured we could fully savor our meal without any discomfort.

Now, onto the food… where do I even begin? The signature dish at Manicomio is undoubtedly the carbonara with pecorino, Tuscan guanciale and Parmesan. Other standouts include Lobster Linguine, Tomato, Chili & Basil; Grilled Pheasant Breast with Pancetta. For starters, the brutta and zucchini fries were an absolute dream—crispy perfection paired with bold flavours. Moving on to the mains, the seafood spaghetti was a symphony of fresh, vibrant ingredients, while the beef was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth. And just when I thought it couldn’t get better, the desserts arrived, stealing the show with their artistry and indulgent flavours.
Highly recommend if you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience...
