Ordered a sandwich, brought 20 minutes late and just slightly similar to what I did order. Egg (soft), bacon, cheese in white bread no toasted sandwich, came as overcooked scrambled egg, hard as a sole bacon (honestly, cooked in the boiling heart of the vesuvio, the volcano itself), and chees in a overtoasted thin bread sandwich.
Running late with no time to complain, ate it, ask for the bill, and 10 minutes later came with a faulty card machine (ok this things happens, no one's fault). But the waiter telling me "don't go anywhere" like I'd run away without paying, made me feel very uncomfortable. After another 5 minutes, I had to go inside to see if I could pay and go for good.
Ok, I know, first world problems, but this is the experience I had in this Cafe. Hope they'll improve this for the next egg and beaky sandwich costumer.
A good thing; the very polite and friendly young girl serving the tables...
Read moreWith so many positive reviews, mine will soon be lost. Quite right! I visited Saturday morning in early June for scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, £5. It was sunny and the location could not be better - a quiet open air area between Canary Wharf and Limehouse. 2 pieces of white sliced bread and the scrambled eggs were too dry for me! I would prefer one slice of lightly toasted brown bread and eggs cooked by frying them and then stirred with a plastic spatula to mix them up. Don't over cook. More than a few seconds in a hot pan can make them dry. Heap the eggs, salmon and perhaps a wee bit of rocket salad next to the toast so the customer can butter the toast (or not). The waitress said she would tell the chef but the chef didn't appear. So my...
Read moreUnfortunately, being the only café around the neighbourhood, we don't have much choice and despite the really nice location I must say it's very disappointing. The coffee is terrible, tastes more like filter than espresso, the food is really really bad - for the price you pay which is about the same level as most other cafes, you literally get a piece of bread and two toppings, that's it and it just doesn't look fresh or anything. And unfortunately the service is bad too, no one really acknowledges you when you come in - no hi/ no bye/ no thank you - just doesn't really feel like a nice neighbourhood cafe. All in all, if you want a nice cup of coffee or a nice sandwich it's worth making that extra 5-10 mins walk to Canary...
