Nando’s- a South African restaurant chain steeped deep into the British causal restaurant culture due to its affordable menu, accessibility to all and its staple of “Piri-Piri” menu and chicken, with its roots in Portuguese and Mozambique flavours and culture! 🇵🇹🇿🇦🇲🇿
Went to Nandos Berners Street yesterday with a friend to catch up and I loved how tucked away this location is, slightly away from the hustle and bustle of Oxford Circus but still people knowing it was there as it was quite busy when we went and gradually became fuller as time went on!
We were immediately sat and the server who initially attended us was quick, asking for any allergies and even asking if it was our first time in Nandos which made myself and my friend giggle as we understood there’s tourists or people who have never been but because it’s such a staple in British culture it tickled our humour! Nevertheless she did a fantastic job in getting us settled although we were placed on one of the smaller tables 😭 and unfortunately could not move to a booth due to a larger group wanting to occupy it😂.
After taking some time to see the menu the new Super Caesar Wrap caught my attention!
What I ordered: Super Caesar Wrap with 2 sides- Peri Salted Chips and Creamy Mash with a spice level of Peri Tamer (£16.50). Also ordered a Bottomless Sprite Zero (£3.95), Bottomless Soft Swirl Tub (£3.50) and 1/2 Chicken with Garlic BBQ (was my orange reward - £0).
Altogether spent: £23.95!
The Super Caesar Wrap was absolutely delicious, the peri tamer was a great choice as it accompanied the flavours of the chicken very well! It came with croutons and salad and all in all it was absolutely yummy and would have 10 of these before I got sick of it! The croutons did make me just a tad sceptical because some places make them too hard and crunchy but this was the perfect balance between softness and being firm and they sort of melted in your mouth after a few chews! The peri salted chips are a must and the creamy mash (despite going to nandos many times in my life and having not tried it) was really smooth and creamy indeed! A bit of seasoning could add just a little dimension to the mash but on its own it still stands to be quite nice!
As it was a new menu item definitely should be a permanent or at the very least long term addition to the menu because it was great and became quite full actually. The price point is not bad either because on its own it was £10.25, which for a new menu item is incredibly cheap! Nando’s keep this in your menu and you would have a new favourite amongst patrons!
Can’t go wrong with a bottomless drink, love me some sprite! 🍋🍋🟩 and the ice cream was just a little cold sweetness to have on top! It felt fun to do the machine I felt like the ice cream man 😂🍦
The music was not too loud, and from where myself and my friend were sitting we could see a queue start to form so defiantly on a Saturday afternoon head gonna nandos before it hits 2-2.30pm after it will be packed and you may be waiting for some time!
Always have loved the ambiance of Nando’s has that British high street causal feel with the flair and touch of its roots back in Portugal and Southern Africa, love it! It’s just a great place to unwind and grab some tasty food!
I have also loved how in recent years they have introduced the QR code at the table!! Very convenient and deals with those long queues efficiently! 📱
All in all there’s not much else to say but if you haven’t tried a Nando’s there are so many across not only London but up and down the UK (and other countries as well). Such a staple and I cannot wait to see what other menu items the chain comes up with and wish it’s long lasting success so one day when I have my own family the kids have a shared part in tasting some tasty peri peri chicken! 😋😂
If you’re on a Saturday afternoon out with friends, family or that special someone and need a quick foodie fix and you’re in the Oxford Street/Circus area, check out Nando’s Berners Street!

Read moreIt was my first time going to this branch. I am a huge nandos fan and always go to my local in Victoria and never experience any trouble. Mine and my friends food took longer than usual to come and we could see that it was just sitting on the service silver thing for a very long time. Finally one of the staff came with my meal and the first thing I notice is a hair of mid length. Now just to be clear I have very long hair so no way was it mine. There was 2 girls behind the silver thing one with the same hair length that was on my food. I straight away took it to the first available staff which was the other girl behind the silver thing. She snatched the plate so fast obviously to avoid any managers attentions and said 'it will be changed.' I could see her telling the girl whose hair was in my food to tie up her hair. Why was this not done before???? I also noticed that neither of them were wearing gloves. They brought my meal back in a very suspicious few mins when firstly it took about half an hour to make the first one. This only lead me to believe they brought the same chicken back. I had no apology nothing...what was worse is that I had to wait another 10 mins for my mash to arrive. I am so disgusted with the service in this nandos not only that but it is so u hygienic. Serving the same chicken that had hair on it?? Who does that. As I said in the beginning I am a huge fan of my local nandos but the standards in this specific branch is so low and the attitude of staff is disgusting no apology? I had the impression I was wasting their time. Totally disappointed and...
Read moreThe food was good but the service left a lot to be desired. Took a long time to come and take our orders. Stood at the till for ages.
I have a blue light card and showed the man at the till he said I needed to have my ID badge with me which I did not know about and my friend who’s had her blue card for ages has never been asked for her ID before. I explained was new and I could show my bank card which has same name as on blue light card but they said no had to be my badge. Would have been nice to know this before as it’s not stated anywhere.
Food was ready I could see it but only one person serving food and some other members of staff walking round. It was very busy but still they could have had more people helping with serving so that food got out quicker and not left sat on the serving shelf for ages.
Didn’t get served together so I had to eat my food in front of my friends and their children on my own while they waited for their food. This was even though we ordered at the same time. My friends made me eat it or would have gone cold as I wanted to wait.
Very busy and noisy. I’m use to hearing the usual nandos Spanish music but couldn’t even hear it as people...
